CDTI adds three million to the NEOTEC 2026 grants budget
Por FactBox Admin

The Center for the Development of Technology and Innovation E.P.E. (CDTI) has declared the availability of 3,000,000 euros in additional credit for the call for grants of the NEOTEC 2026 Program, aimed at new business projects from innovative companies, and the subsequent expansion of its budget. The decision was formalized through the Resolution of October 22, 2026, signed by the president of the organization, Teresa Riesgo Alcaide, and its summary is published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) no. 266, of October 27, 2026 (reference BOE-B-2026-35166, Sec. V-B, page 57018).
The master call is the one approved by the Resolution of April 6, 2026, from the Presidency of the CDTI, whose summary was published in the BOE no. 86, of April 8, 2026. That text established an initial maximum allocation of 20,000,000 euros and expressly provided that this figure could be increased by an additional amount of up to 30,000,000 euros.
Three million for technology charged to a new budget line
The summary now published specifies the economic terms of the operation:
- Amount declared as effective additional quantity: 3,000,000 euros.
- Budget allocation line: 28.08.467C.74911.
- Call identifier in the National Grants Database: BDNS(Identif.): 896999.
- Full text available on the Infosubvenciones website of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
The October resolution does not restrict these three million to a specific technological field, but rather links them to the general forecast of the call, which allows for reserving part of the additional amount to finance proposals in certain priority technologies when credit availability so indicates. The summary was signed in Madrid on October 22, 2026, by the president of the CDTI.
From the defense package to the third allocation of the fiscal year
This is not the first expansion of the year. The Resolution of September 9, 2026, published in the BOE no. 226, of September 12, 2026 (reference BOE-B-2026-29714, Sec. V-B, page 48167), declared an additional 20,000,000 euros charged to budget line 28.08.467C.74927. That allocation was entirely destined to finance applications linked to Security and Defense, in accordance with Annex VII of the call, and was framed within the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2024-2027.
With the sum of both resolutions, the CDTI has activated 23,000,000 euros of the 30,000,000 planned as the maximum expansion, on an initial base of 20 million. The budget mobilized by NEOTEC 2026 thus amounts to 43,000,000 euros, leaving a margin of 7,000,000 to be declared before the close of the fiscal year.
Mandatory Publication and Legal Framework
Both excerpts are published under articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17, which mandate the publication of calls and their modifications in the Official State Gazette (Boletín Oficial del Estado) and the National Subsidies Database. The October document is limited to two sections: a reminder of the original call and the declaration of credit availability, without altering the application conditions already established in April.
The processing is the responsibility of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, under which the CDTI operates as the managing public business entity for the grants. The official reference of the announcement is BOE-B-2026-35166, with the internal verification identifier A260045804-1 and announcement number 35166.
Impact for Tech Startups
The expansion arrives while the call is already underway and provides an additional cushion for emerging companies competing for public funding in their startup phase. For startups that have applied or plan to apply for NEOTEC aid, the relevant fact is that the program’s budget grows by 15% compared to the initial allocation and that the three million are not reserved for the defense sector, unlike the September expansion.
