Por FactBox Admin
The Island Council of Tenerife has opened the call for grants, under a competitive bidding process, aimed at sports federations, sports clubs, and individual athletes to provide travel assistance for official national and international sports competitions held between June 1 and August 31, 2026. The allocation amounts to 280,000 euros, and the announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, number 104, dated August 31, 2026, with identifier BDNS 926476.
The call was approved by the Island Government Council of the Cabildo in a session held on August 5, 2026. The same gazette publishes both the summary of the call (document 1781690) and the announcement of the regulatory bases (document 1781430), in accordance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17.
Credit and purpose of the aid
The budget credit allocated to the call amounts to 280,000.00 euros, distributed across two budget applications:
- 26.0811.3411.48940: 220,000.00 €
- 26.0811.3411.48140: 60,000.00 €
The amount may be expanded based on budget availability, and the maximum amount of the line may be increased by up to 50% using credits from the linking fund, pursuant to article 58 of the Regulations of the General Subsidies Law. Travel to official competitions held in the Peninsula, Balearic Islands, Ceuta, and Melilla or foreign countries is eligible for subsidies; within the Canary Archipelago, only travel between islands for the final stages of Spanish, European, or World Championships is covered.
Who can apply
The following entities and persons may be beneficiaries:
- Tenerife sports clubs registered in the Registry of Sports Entities of the Canary Islands.
- Canarian or Tenerife island federations registered in said registry, provided they prove their own legal personality.
- Individual athletes residing in Tenerife, including minors and persons with a disability equal to or greater than 33%.
Sports Public Limited Companies (Sociedades Anónimas Deportivas) and entities with teams in professional competitions qualified by the Higher Sports Council (LaLiga, ACB, LPFF, and ASOBAL) are excluded, except for reserve teams in youth categories, as well as non-official matches or those that only appear in regional federations.
Evaluation criteria and deadline
The grant will be resolved based on four criteria: location of the event (national module of €70 and international module of €100), number of people traveling (maximum of 18 per team), additional module for the transport of heavy equipment, and days of effective participation in the competition. The instruction corresponds to the Head of the Administrative Sports Service and the resolution to the Counselor with Special Delegation in Sports, María Yolanda Moliné Rodríguez.
Applications shall be submitted using the official Cabildo form between September 2 and 22, 2026, with one application for each trip made. The maximum period for resolution and notification will be six months, and notifications will be published on the notice board of the Cabildo’s electronic office (sede.tenerife.es).
The call for applications represents direct support for the island’s sporting fabric by alleviating the cost of participation for teams and athletes from Tenerife in competitions outside of Tenerife during the summer, a key period in the national and international sporting calendar.
