The Cabildo of La Palma publishes the terms for job-creating subsidies.

The Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife publishes this Wednesday, 12 August, in its issue No. 96, the regulatory bases for the award of subsidies for employment generation projects of the Island Council of La Palma, approved by the Commission of the Plenary for Education, Training, Employment and Crafts in an ordinary session held on 6 August 2026. The text appears on page 22800 with registration number 1686791 and sets out two aid lines under a competitive competition procedure: one for non-profit entities and another for academies and training centres on the island.

The bases, promoted by the Area of Training and Employment, fall within Line 9 “Subsidy for Employment Generation Projects” of the Corporation’s Strategic Subsidies Plan 2025-2027, updated for the 2026 annual period by agreement of the Island Government Council of 22 May. The explanatory statement justifies the measure by the consequences of the volcanic eruption of 19 September 2021 on the island’s labour market, aggravated by the armed conflict in the Middle East, and sets as its objective to improve the employability, professional qualification and integration of unemployed persons.

Two lines for two types of entities

Line 1 finances personalised integration itineraries for job seeking: employability diagnosis, labour and social guidance, training for employment, occupational risk prevention workshops, and prospecting and intermediation with companies. Associations, NGOs, foundations, official professional associations or trade union organisations with a registered office or permanent delegation in La Palma and at least one workplace on the island for the last twelve months may apply.

Line 2 is aimed at academies and training centres approved or accredited by the Canary Islands Employment Service, which will deliver actions from the SEPE Catalogue of Training Specialities and professional certificates. The offering prioritises sectors with real demand detected on the island:

• Social and health care.
• Hospitality.
• Professional cleaning.
• Facilities maintenance.
• Digital skills and e-commerce.
• Customer service and personal well-being.

Amounts, deadlines and processing

The subsidy will cover up to 100% of the project cost, with a maximum amount of 50,000 euros per project, which must be supplemented with own resources if it is exceeded. Payment will be made in advance, in a single payment of 100% and without requiring a guarantee, and the aid will be incompatible with other subsidies for the same purpose.

The application period shall be that established by the corresponding call, with a minimum of ten business days from the publication of its extract in the BOP of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Applications will be submitted exclusively electronically at the Cabildo’s electronic headquarters, with electronic signature and one application per entity; the resolution must be issued within a maximum of six months, and the justification may be submitted up to three months after the end of the project.

With these rules, the Cabildo Insular de La Palma provides a stable framework for support for recruitment and training on an island that is still rebuilding its productive fabric after the eruption. The calls for applications approved must be published in the National Grants Database (BDNS) and their extract in the gazette, opening a funding window of up to €50,000 per project for social entities and training centres to boost local employment. The document, electronically signed by the corporate member responsible for the Training and Employment Area, Jesús María Armas Domínguez, has been in force since its publication.
