The Cabildo de Gran Canaria has opened the competitive examination (concurso-oposición) for the open entry track to fill five Educator positions within its labor staff, included in the Public Employment Offers of 2023, 2024, and 2025. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 107, dated September 7, 2026, via resolution CGC/2026/9678 of the Department of Public Administration and Transparency.

The announced category is Educator, labor staff and group II, with an access system via competitive examination.
Deadline and submission of applications
Applications may be submitted during twenty business days starting from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official State Gazette. The application is formalized using Annex I and the self-assessment document for fees, through any of these channels:

A special procedure is provided for victims of gender-based violence, which preserves their identity throughout the process, as well as time and resource adaptations for applicants with a disability equal to or greater than 33%.
Requirements and examination fees
The required qualification is a Degree or Diploma in Social Education, or to be a University Diploma/Degree holder provided that the qualification to practice as a Social Educator is held, issued by an Official College of Educators of national scope. Exceptionally, personnel with temporary contracts who have provided at least three years of service in the category within the scope of the Cabildo may apply with a qualification as a Social Worker, Teacher, Primary School Teacher (EGB) or equivalent.
Examination fees are set at:
- Ordinary fee: 21 euros.
- Large families (general category): 18.90 euros.
- Large families (special category): 16.80 euros.
- Disability equal to or greater than 33%: 10.50 euros.
- Job seekers meeting the requirements of the Fiscal Ordinance: 0 euros.
Phases of the selection process
The competitive examination phase consists of three eliminatory exercises, two theoretical and one practical, scored from 0 to 10 points. The first exercise is a 60-question multiple-choice test to be completed in 80 minutes; the second, the written development of eight headings chosen from twelve topics in two and a half hours; and the third, two practical cases to be chosen from four in three hours. The theoretical part accounts for 40% and the practical part for 60% of the final examination grade.
The merit phase, which is non-eliminatory, evaluates professional experience (50%), official qualifications (20%), training courses received and taught (20%), and other merits (10%). Applicants who pass this phase must provide documentary evidence of the merits held as of the closing date for the submission of applications.
Job Functions
The Educator will carry out their work in the Cabildo’s child care centers, with functions including tutoring, programming educational and leisure activities, maintaining relationships with families, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and social services, and supervising and accompanying minors in their daily lives. Hiring will require a negative certificate from the Central Registry of Sexual Offenders, in accordance with Law 26/2015, as this is a position with regular contact with minors.
The call for applications, which affects hundreds of applicants on the island, represents a significant opportunity to consolidate public employment in the field of social and educational intervention in Gran Canaria, in a sector with high demand for qualified professionals for child and adolescent care.
