The Cabildo of Fuerteventura allocates 24,000 euros for taxis adapted for PRM

The Island Council of Fuerteventura has announced grants for the taxi sector adapted for people with reduced mobility (PRM), corresponding to the 2026 fiscal year, with a total allocation of 24,000.00 euros. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas, number 100, dated August 21, 2026, via the extract of the agreement of the Island Government Council adopted on August 18, 2026 (official reference 1749618, page 14898).

The announcement, signed by the managing director of Public Procurement, Sports, Transparency, Mobility, and Communications, Luis González Cabrera, is part of the Strategic Grant Plan of the Island Corporation. The aid is financed through budget item 11140 4412A 7700226, titled “Support for Adapted Taxis,” and is processed under a competitive bidding regime.

Beneficiaries and Purpose

Eligible beneficiaries may be natural persons who hold a taxi license on the island of Fuerteventura, under the terms of Article 11 of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17, and in accordance with Decree 74/2012, of August 2, which approves the Taxi Service Regulations.

The purpose of the guidelines is to promote improvement projects, adaptations, and acquisitions of taxi vehicles, compensating for the economic effort that license holders must bear. Specifically, the following are subsidized:

• The acquisition, adaptation, or improvement of taxi vehicles adapted for the transport of people with disabilities or reduced mobility (PRM).

Excluded Expenses

Excluded from the grant, among others, are:

• The acquisition of vehicles that are not intended to be adapted for people with reduced mobility or that are not included in the category of efficient vehicles.
• Vehicles not adapted according to the UNE 26494 Standard (vehicles for the transport of people with reduced mobility).
• The purchase and installation of second-hand machinery or equipment.
• The installation of equipment and devices not necessary for the performance of the taxi service.
• Own labor and materials of the same origin.

The purpose of the guidelines is to support a portion of the actions that license owners must undertake, and never to fully finance the expenses derived from the execution of the activities.

Deadline and Regulatory Guidelines

The application period will begin the day following the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas and will end after fifteen (15) business days. The full text can be consulted in the National Grants Database (BDNS, identifier 925612).

The regulatory bases were approved by the Plenary of the Insular Council of Fuerteventura on March 19, 2018, published in the BOPLP number 62, of May 23, 2018, and modified by plenary agreement on July 30, 2021, published in number 33, of March 18, 2022.

The call for applications represents a boost to public transport accessibility on the island, by making it easier for taxi license holders to adapt their vehicles to serve people with reduced mobility. With a deadline of barely fifteen business days, interested parties must submit their applications promptly to apply for one of the grants from the “Support for Adapted Taxis” budget line.
