The Cabildo of Fuerteventura annuls dozens of public employment positions
Por FactBox Admin

The Insular Council of Fuerteventura has annulled and terminated dozens of public employment selection processes after the General Rules under which the corresponding Specific Rules were approved were judicially annulled. The decision, adopted by the Insular Area Councilor for Finance, Economic Promotion, Human Resources, Sports, and Sustainable Mobility, Nuria Cabrera Méndez, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 106, dated September 4, 2026.
The resolutions annul the calls and Specific Rules for a total of 39 positions, as the general regulatory framework to which they expressly referred has ceased to exist. Added to these is the withdrawal of the procedure for one position of Agricultural Technical Engineer, as the summary of the call was not published in the Official State Gazette. In all cases, the positions remain fully linked to their respective Public Employment Offers (2023, 2024, and 2025), meaning they may be called for again in accordance with the applicable regulatory framework.
Annulled Positions
The affected selection processes, called via competitive examination (concurso-oposición) through open competition or internal promotion, are as follows:
- 1 position for First-Class Officer (Group C, Subgroup C2, internal promotion), OEP 2024 — Resolution 6124/2026.
- 5 positions for Environment and Hunting Officer (Group C, Subgroup C2, internal promotion), OEP 2024 — Resolution 6123/2026.
- 2 positions for Music Educator (Group C, Subgroup C1, open competition), one for Folklore and one for Electric Guitar, OEP 2025 — Resolution 6103/2026.
- 1 position for Music Teacher, Singing specialty (Group A, Subgroup A2, open competition), OEP 2025 — Resolution 6102/2026.
- 1 position for Sports Monitor-Indigenous Sports (Group C, Subgroup C2, open competition), OEP 2023 — Resolution 6104/2026.
- 2 positions for Medium-Level Technician (Group A, Subgroup A2, open competition), OEP 2023 — Resolution 6106/2026.
- 1 position for Special Administration Technician (Group A, Subgroup A1, open competition), OEP 2023 — Resolution 6111/2026.
- 5 positions for Security and Emergency Corporal and 20 positions for Security and Emergency Agent (Group C, Subgroup C2, open competition), OEP 2023 — Resolution 6109/2026.
- 1 position for Industrial Technical Engineer (Group A, Subgroup A2, open competition), OEP 2023 — Resolution 6107/2026.
Refund of examination fees
The resolutions provide that the competent services shall process, following verification of the requirements established in the applicable regulations, the refund of the amounts actually paid as examination fees by the affected applicants. In processes where provisional lists of admitted and excluded candidates had already been approved, these are likewise annulled as they constitute actions directly derived from the annulled calls for applications.
Appeal and effects
The administrative acts exhaust the administrative route and may be optionally appealed for reversal before the same body that issued them, within a period of one month, or challenged directly before the Contentious-Administrative Courts of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, within a period of two months. The resolutions shall be reported to the Intervention and Human Resources Services, the Personnel Board, and the Plenary of the Corporation.
The annulment of the General Bases obliges the Cabildo de Fuerteventura to restart the personnel selection process, which delays the filling of key positions in areas such as security and emergencies, environment, music, and technical services. For applicants who had already paid the examination fees, the refund of the paid fees provides economic relief, although they must wait for new calls for applications to apply for these positions.
