El Bohodón submits a pig farm with 1,994 spaces for public consultation

The City Council of El Bohodón has opened for public consultation the application for an urban planning license and an environmental license for the construction of a pig fattening farm with 1,994 places, according to the announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ávila on August 20, 2026 (number 1631/26). The project, with a budget of 254,178.03 euros, is located on plots 10103 and 20103 of polygon 3 of the municipal district.

The agreement to open the procedure was adopted by the Mayor’s Office of El Bohodón on July 31, 2026, and the file remains open for a period of twenty days starting from the day following the publication of the announcement, so that those who consider themselves interested parties may submit allegations, suggestions, or claims.

The project and its promoter

The action consists of the basic project for a pig fattening operation of 1,994 places, drafted by Mr. Luis Javier Herrero Aragoneses, Agricultural Technical Engineer registered under number 3854 with the Official College of Agricultural Engineers of Central Segovia. The promoter of the initiative is the company LA CHIONA, S.C.

Regulatory framework

The procedure is based on Article 28 of the Recast Text of the Environmental Prevention Law of Castilla y León, approved by Legislative Decree 1/2015, of November 12, and Article 307.3 of the Urban Planning Regulations of Castilla y León, approved by Decree 22/2004, of January 29. Both regulations govern the public information process prior to the granting of urban and environmental licenses for this type of livestock facilities.

How to participate

During the twenty-day period, the file may be consulted at the Secretariat of the City Council of El Bohodón, during the following hours:

• Monday: from 8:30 to 12:30 hours
• Wednesday: from 17:30 to 20:30 hours

Allegations, suggestions, and other documents may be submitted at the same location and hours, as well as through the electronic office of the City Council of El Bohodón (https://elbohodon.sedelectronica.es). The announcement is signed by the mayor, Héctor Rodríguez Herráez.

The opening of this procedure is of special interest to the residents of El Bohodón due to the environmental and livestock impact that an operation of this size may have on the municipal district. Citizen participation during the twenty days of public consultation is the means for affected parties to learn about the project and formulate the allegations they deem appropriate before the City Council resolves on the granting of the licenses.
