El BOC corrige la fecha de la Ley 4/2026 de municipios turísticos

The Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) publishes this Friday, October 9, 2026, a correction of errors for Law 4/2026, of July 16, on tourist municipalities of the Canary Islands. The rectification, included in section I of general provisions under the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, corrects the erroneous date that appeared in the summary and in the title of the regulation. The original text of the law had been published in BOC no. 149, of July 27, 2026.

The announcement, identified by number 3494, warns that an error was detected in the publication of the law consisting of “the erroneous entry of the date of the aforementioned Law in the summary and in its title.” For this reason, the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands proceeds with the appropriate correction, which is limited to the date and does not alter the rest of the text published at the time.

What exactly is being corrected

The correction reproduces the erroneous passage and the correct text, referring to two specific pages of the original publication:

  • Where it says: “Law 4/2026, of July 14, on tourist municipalities of the Canary Islands.”
  • It should say: “Law 4/2026, of July 16, on tourist municipalities of the Canary Islands.”
  • Affected pages of the original publication: 27810 and 27814.

The error persisted in both the summary and the title of the regulation, that is, in the two elements that formally identify the provision within the gazette.

Scope of the rectification

The correction of errors does not modify the substantive content of Law 4/2026, but only the date that accompanies it in its official designation. It is, therefore, a formal rectification that affects the identification of the regulation and not its articles.

The date of a law is not a minor detail: it is part of its official title, determines how it is cited in the rest of the legal system, and serves as a reference for establishing the deadlines associated with its entry into force and its regulatory development. Hence, the official gazette expressly reports the discrepancy and publishes the text that must prevail.

Official publication

The correction appears in BOC no. 203, of October 9, 2026, within section I, dedicated to general provisions, and occupies page 36597. The announcement is headed by number 3494 and is issued under the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, the competent body to order the publication.

With this rectification, the official designation of the regulation is fixed as Law 4/2026, of July 16, on tourist municipalities of the Canary Islands, and replaces the date of July 14 that appeared by error in the summary and in the title.

The accuracy of the date is relevant for the tourist municipalities of the archipelago and for the legal operators who cite the regulation, as any reference to Law 4/2026 must now use the corrected date. The rectification thus ensures legal certainty in the identification of a law that governs the regime of the tourist municipalities of the Canary Islands.
