The City Council of Santa Cruz appoints nine career social workers

The City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has appointed nine candidates who passed the selection process called to fill as many positions of Social Worker as career civil servants. The decision was adopted by decree of the Delegate Council area for Human Resources, dated 27 July 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife number 97, of 14 August 2026, page 23154 (record 1701945, file 2223/2024/RH).

The decree resolves the accumulated selection process, by free access turn and competitive-examination system, for nine positions of Social Worker in the Special Administration Scale, Technical Subscale, Class of Medium Technicians, Group A, Subgroup A2, included in the Public Employment Offers for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023. The call and its rules were approved by decree of the Delegate Council area for Human Resources of 19 August 2022 and published in the Official Gazette number 102, of 23 August 2024, with an extract in the Official State Gazette number 216, of 6 September 2024.

By decree of 25 June 2026, the nine candidates were declared approved, a list made public in Official Gazette number 81, of 8 July 2026. All submitted the required responsible declaration within the deadline and stated their order of preference among the positions offered.

Placements in the Social Care Service

The new civil servants are assigned permanently to positions called “Social Worker” in the Social Care Service, with a destination supplement of level 22 and a specific supplement of 645 points. The assignment takes into account the requested destination and the total score of each candidate:

  • María Mercedes García López: position 1.44.50 (post F1373)
  • Begoña Desireé García Oliva: position 1.44.39 (post F1375)
  • Cristina Dóniz Luis: position 1.44.67 (post F1518)
  • Idaira Atteneri Torres González: position 1.44.55 (post F1327)
  • Débora Atteneri Ramos Betancort: position 1.44.3 (post F1376)
  • Jairo Cano Barrera: position 1.44.1 (post F1377)
  • Nadia Elena Chinea Lorenzo: position 1.44.60 (post F1379)
  • Carlos Alfonso Vázquez Alayón: position 1.44.8 (post F426)
  • Romina González León: position 1.44.69 (post F408)

Resignations and taking of possession

Six of those appointed were already serving as interim municipal employees and will cease in those positions on the day immediately prior to their taking up posts as career civil servants. The interim employees Marta Delgado Pérez, Leticia Díaz Plasencia and Daura Rodríguez Barrios will also cease, as they occupy posts now filled on a permanent basis.

Taking up posts must be carried out within a maximum period of one month from the day following the publication of the decree in the provincial bulletin. The resolution may be appealed by filing a motion for reconsideration with the City Government Board within one month, or by filing an administrative contentious appeal with the Administrative Litigation Division of the Court of Instance of Santa Cruz de Tenerife within two months.

With these appointments, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council permanently consolidates the staffing of the capital’s social services, closes selection processes accumulated since 2021, and strengthens the Social Care Service in response to the municipality’s community care needs.
