The Córdoba City Council appoints thirty new career local police officers

The Córdoba City Council has appointed thirty officers as career civil servants in the position of Local Police, by means of Decree No. 2026/12985, dated July 28, published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba on Thursday, September 24, 2026 (No. 185, pp. 13871-13872, reference BOP-A-2026-3122). The resolution is signed by the Deputy Mayor Delegated for Human Resources and Occupational Health, Management, Health and Consumption, and Youth, Cintia Bustos Muñoz, dated August 26, 2026.

The decree is issued in exercise of the powers conferred upon the Mayor by Article 124 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the Bases of the Local Regime, as amended by Law 57/2003, of December 16, on Measures for the Modernization of Local Government, and those delegated by Mayoral Decree No. 8377, of June 17, 2023, and by the Local Government Board Agreement number 602/2023, of June 26.

The publication is carried out in compliance with Article 25 of Royal Decree 364/1995, of March 10, which approves the General Regulations for the Entry of Personnel into the Service of the General State Administration and the Provision of Job Positions and Professional Promotion of Civil Servants of the General State Administration. The appointments correspond to the basic category of the corps and consolidate as career personnel the officers who passed the selection process.

Thirty positions filled by decree

Decree No. 2026/12985 provides for the appointment as career civil servants in the position of Local Police of the thirty candidates listed in the announcement, identified by their partially hidden ID (DNI) and by first and last names. The list occupies two pages of the provincial gazette, 13871 and 13872, within the Local Administration section.

The administrative act exhausts the administrative route and enables the taking of office of the new officers at their destinations, with the rights and duties inherent to the status of career civil servant of the Córdoba City Council.

Staff reinforcement and other appointments on the same day

The same edition of the bulletin includes two other decrees from the Deputy Mayor Delegated for Human Resources that complete the reinforcement of the Local Police of the Córdoba City Council. Decree No. 2026/12982, dated July 28, appoints José Manuel Luengo Sánchez and Rafael Fernández Gutiérrez as career officials in the position of Inspector (reference BOP-A-2026-3124, p. 13873).

For its part, Decree No. 2026/12984, dated July 28, promotes nine officers to the rank of Sub-inspector: Pedro Jurado Perea, Victoriano López López, Antonio González Cantador, José Carlos Cañete Mateo, Javier Arroyo Ferrer de Couto, Juan Jesús Alcántara Reifs, Francisco Javier Sánchez López, José Alberto García Baca, and Javier Romero Moreno (reference BOP-A-2026-3125, p. 13874).

These appointments are added to the internal promotion processes already published in August, when the Córdoba City Council approved the guidelines for the provision of 2 Superintendent positions and 8 Sub-inspector positions for the Local Police, belonging to the public employment offers of 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Impact on public safety

With these thirty additions, the Córdoba City Council consolidates the staff of the municipal Local Police force and reduces temporary employment in the basic category, which is the most numerous and the one that sustains the ordinary proximity service in the city’s districts. The official publication opens the period for the new career officials to take office and provides legal guarantee to their administrative status.
