The City Council of Badajoz announces a position for a Painting teacher at the Covarsí School.

The Badajoz City Council has called, through free competition, one position for Painting Teacher for the Consortium of the School of Arts and Crafts “Adelardo Covarsí”, one of the reference cultural institutions in the province. The call, which affects one permanent staff position, was published on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Badajoz (No. 157), under announcement 3255/2026, within the Local Administration section.
The decision was adopted by Ignacio Gragera Barrera, Mayor-President of the Corporation, exercising the powers conferred upon him by article 21.1.g) of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the Bases of Local Government. The document was signed by the Fourth Deputy Mayor and Delegate for Human Resources, Eladio Buzo Corzo, who acts as Acting Mayor in accordance with BOP No. 152 of August 11, 2026.
Characteristics of the position
The position called is classified in group A, subgroup A2, of the Special Administration scale, Technical subscale, in accordance with Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015, of October 30, which approves the consolidated text of the Basic Statute of Public Employees. It is endowed with the emoluments corresponding to said group according to the current Job Description List of the Consortium.
- Required qualification: Degree in Fine Arts (with recognition in the case of foreign degrees).
- Nationality: Spanish or from other States, in accordance with article 57 of Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015.
- Age: Minimum 16 years and not exceeding the compulsory retirement age.
- Examination fee: €24.04, with full exemption for large families of special category and job seekers, and a 50% discount for large families of general category.
Application deadline and submission method
Applications must be submitted within a period of 20 business days counted from the day following the publication of the extract of the call in the Official State Bulletin. The form must be completed exclusively through the electronic headquarters of the Badajoz City Council (www.aytobadajoz.es), along the path Electronic headquarters > all procedures > catalog of procedures > selection processes > application for public employment call.
Once downloaded in PDF format, the application must be submitted electronically or in person at the General Registry of the City Council (Plaza de España, 1 – 06002 Badajoz). It must be accompanied by a photocopy of the ID card, a photocopy of the qualification, and proof of payment of the fee or documentation accrediting the exemption.
Selection system: three phases
The selection process is structured into three mandatory and eliminatory phases. The first phase consists of two exercises: a test of 80 questions (plus 10 reserve questions) with four answer alternatives, to be completed in a maximum of 95 minutes, followed by a written theoretical-practical case of up to 120 minutes. The syllabus covers 12 common topics (administrative, labor and equality regulations) and 48 specific topics on visual perception, design, artistic techniques and art history.
The second phase consists of a medical examination carried out by the municipal Occupational Risk Prevention services. The third phase is a one-month internship period, paid, during which the candidate will perform the duties of the position under the evaluation of the corresponding department head.
Candidates who pass at least the first exercise without obtaining a position will form a temporary hiring pool in the category announced, in accordance with the City Council’s pool management Regulations, published in BOP No. 175 of 11 September 2024.

The opening of this position represents an opportunity to professionally incorporate a Painting specialist into one of the most emblematic art schools in Extremadura. The «Adelardo Covarsí» School has been training artists and technicians in various disciplines for decades, and the incorporation of new permanent teaching staff helps consolidate its educational offering and guarantee the continuity of the public artistic training service in the province of Badajoz.
