The mayor of Arévalo delegates the mayoralty to his two deputy mayors.

Vidal Galicia Jaramillo, mayor of Arévalo, has delegated the powers of the office of Mayor to his two deputy mayors during the second half of August and the first days of September. This is established by the Mayor’s Resolution of August 10, 2026, published as an announcement of the Arévalo City Council in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Ávila, number 1684/26, of August 13, 2026, within the Local Administration section.

The delegation allows the City Council to maintain its leadership and representation during the summer period, during which the mayor is absent from the corporation. The agreement is adopted under the Regulation on Organization, Operation and Legal Regime of Local Entities, approved by Royal Decree 2568/1986, of November 28: its Article 44 regulates the substitution of the mayor by the deputy mayors, and its Article 47 enables the delegation of powers, the legal basis to which the announcement itself refers for its publication.

Two deputy mayors, two periods

The delegation has been distributed on a staggered basis between the first and the second deputy mayor, who will assume the full functions inherent to the office of Mayor during the following periods:

• María Sonsoles Arroyo Fragua, first deputy mayor, will exercise the powers from August 13 to 23, both inclusive.
• Pelayo Esteban García Alonso, second deputy mayor, will exercise them from August 24 to September 2, both inclusive.

During these periods, each deputy mayor will assume the representation of the corporation and the exercise of the ordinary powers of the mayor of the Most Excellent City Council of Arévalo, guaranteeing the continuity of municipal management in the middle of summer.

Automatic termination without a new resolution

The delegation will cease on September 3, 2026, unless a cause of force majeure arises, and without any need for a new Mayor’s Resolution to recover the powers. The end of its validity occurs automatically once the last of the aforementioned periods has been exhausted, so that the mayor resumes full functions on that same day.

Publication and signature

The announcement is made public in accordance with Article 47, in relation to Article 44, of the Regulation on Organization, Operation and Legal Regime of Local Entities, approved by Royal Decree 2568/1986, of November 28. The text appears in the Local Administration section of the provincial bulletin and is signed in Arévalo on August 11, 2026, by the mayor, Vidal Galicia Jaramillo.

La publicación en el boletín oficial convierte en oponible frente a terceros el régimen de delegación, de modo que vecinos, empresas y administraciones conocen con exactitud quién ostenta la dirección del Ayuntamiento durante las vacaciones estivales: la primera teniente de alcalde hasta el 23 de agosto y el segundo teniente desde el día 24 hasta el 2 de septiembre. Se trata de un mecanismo ordinario de la organización municipal para los supuestos de ausencia temporal del alcalde, que aporta seguridad jurídica a cuantos actos se adopten en esas fechas.
