The Department of Economy, Labor and Employment has approved the call for grants for the training, dissemination, and research of the social economy for the 2026 exercise, through an order with reference 2026/3887. The order was published in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country (BOPV) number 176, on September 15, 2026, and was signed by Miguel Torres Lorenzo, Second Vice-President and Commissioner of Economy, Labor and Employment.

The call has a global budget of 970,000 euros, divided into two exercises: 582,000 euros for 2026 and 388,000 euros for 2027. The grants will be managed by the Social Economy Directorate, and applications must be submitted within a period of one month, starting from the day following the publication of the order in the BOPV.

Three axes of the grants

The call includes three types of eligible activities aimed at promoting the social economy:

  • Training activities: specific training on cooperativism and labor societies, the design and implementation of didactic units, and the identification of companies for dual training and internships.
  • Dissemination activities: periodic publications, seminars, special events, and communication actions for the visibility of the social economy.
  • Research activities: research on sustainability, collaboration spaces, and university publications.

All activities must start in 2026 and end before June 30, 2027.

Beneficiaries and amounts

Grants may be received by organizations with their headquarters and main activity in the Basque Autonomous Community, including:

  • Faculties, schools, university institutes, and university research organizations.
  • Federations and confederations of cooperatives, other associative structures of the social economy, and labor society associations.
  • Training centers dependent on cooperative or labor society structures.

The amount of the subsidy will generally be 85% of the net cost of the activity, with limits between 10,000 and 60,000 euros depending on the type of activity. Training centers will receive a percentage of 50%, and research activities 45%, when the research is not directly applicable to the reality of the social economy.

Application and deadlines

Applications must be submitted electronically through the electronic headquarters of the Public Administration of the Basque Country, in Basque or Spanish. Applications may be submitted within a period of one month, starting from the day following the publication of the order.

The resolution must be issued and notified within a period of six months by the Vice-Minister of Labor and Social Security, upon the proposal of the Social Economy Directorate. Payment will be made in two installments: 582,000 euros charged to the 2026 budget exercise and 388,000 euros charged to 2027, after the expenses have been justified.

This call reflects the commitment to strengthening the social economy model through training, dissemination, and research. Cooperatives, labor societies, and other social economy organizations have the opportunity to finance their activities and improve the visibility of the sector in the Basque Country.
