Education announces three grants of 1,500 euros for higher artistic excellence
Por FactBox Admin

The Department of Education and Universities has announced three grants of 1,500 euros each to promote the academic excellence of students from the Balearic Islands who have completed higher artistic education during the 2024-2025 academic year. The measure is published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) no. 127, of October 8, 2026, through Resolution no. 10083, signed by the counselor Antoni Vera Alemany on October 6. The deadline for submitting applications opens on October 13 and closes on October 26, 2026.
The call falls within the exclusive competence of the autonomous community regarding scholarships and grants with own funds (article 36.1 of the Statute of Autonomy) and article 83 of Organic Law 2/2006 on education, which requires post-compulsory grant programs to take academic performance into account. The Department maintains this line to correct inequalities due to insularity and to favor quality and excellence, after having applied tuition fee exemptions for students with excellent performance.
The call has a maximum of 4,500 euros, charged to budget item 13801/421J01/48000/00 of the general budgets of the Autonomous Community for 2025, extended for 2026 by Order 39/2025, of December 23. It is part of line III.2.18 of the Strategic Subsidy Plan 2024-2026, approved by the Governing Council on April 19, 2024 (BOIB no. 52), and is governed by the Order of the Counselor of Education and Universities of July 9, 2025 (BOIB no. 89, of July 12).
Three grants of 1,500 euros in competitive bidding
- Number of grants: three, with a fixed allocation of 1,500 euros each.
- Total credit assigned: 4,500 euros.
- Regime: competitive bidding; they are awarded to the three applicants with the highest score and the rest are denied due to lack of budget availability.
- Incompatibility: they are not compatible with scholarships or grants for the same purpose from any administration or public or private entity.
- Payment: by bank transfer, once the award resolution is published in the BOIB.
Academic and personal requirements
- Spanish nationality, nationality of a European Union member state, or non-EU foreign nationality with accredited residence.
- Address in the Balearic Islands, understood as administrative residency in any municipality of the archipelago.
- To have completed official higher artistic education studies in any Spanish center during the 2024-2025 academic year.
- Average grade of the academic record equal to or higher than 9.00 points out of 10.
- Those who have completed university degrees, university-specific degrees, LOGSE degree adaptations, or have obtained the degree through the recognition of more than 30 ECTS credits are excluded.
The score is calculated by multiplying the weighted average grade of the academic record by the efficiency rate, expressed from 0 to 1 with three decimal places. In the event of a tie, priority is given to students with more honors degrees and, if the tie persists, to those with more “excellent” and “notable” grades.
Deadlines, amendments, and resolution
- Applications: from October 13 at 1:00 p.m. to October 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., peninsular time.
- Processing: electronic, through the Electronic Office and the information sheet at eas.caib.es.
- Documentation report: will be published between October 27 and 29, 2026, with ten business days to make amendments.
- Proposed resolution: by November 18, 2026, at the latest, with ten calendar days to file appeals and seven calendar days to withdraw.
- Silence: if not resolved within six months from the end of the application period, requests are understood to be rejected.
The instructing body is the General Directorate of Universities, Research, and Higher Artistic Education, and the assessment corresponds to an Evaluation Commission chaired by the general director and composed of a technician as secretary, the head of the Department of Universities and Research, a representative of the Economic Management Unit, and a representative of Legal Services. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed against the resolution within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal before the High Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands within two months.
These grants reach a small but very specific group: students of higher artistic education with records of excellence, whose effort is recognized with a direct financial contribution through a competitive and regulated procedure. For families, the call establishes a clear calendar—applications in October, proposed resolution in November—and confirms that the Department maintains public support for higher artistic training despite budgetary limitations.
