Por FactBox Admin
The City Council of Durón has accepted the resignation of Herminio Couso Gago from the position of deputy mayor and has appointed Mercedes Callejón Alarcón to that responsibility. The decision was formalized through Mayoral Resolution No. 38/2026, dated September 15, 2026, and was made public in the Official Gazette of the Province of Guadalajara (BOP) No. 178, corresponding to Thursday, September 17, 2026.
The announcement is included in the City Councils section of the provincial gazette and bears the signature of the mayor-president, Juan Ramírez García, who signed the text in Durón on September 15, 2026. The publication is carried out, according to the agreement itself, in accordance with Article 46.1 of Royal Decree 2568/1986, of November 28, which approves the Regulations on the Organization, Operation, and Legal Regime of Local Entities.
A resignation that does not mean leaving the City Council
The resolution reports the resignation submitted by Herminio Couso Gago from the position of deputy mayor of the Durón council. The text specifies that the councilman maintains his status as a member of the Corporation, therefore his departure is limited to the position of deputy mayor and does not affect his record as a member of the municipal Corporation.
In this way, the resignation is resolved with an immediate replacement in the local government structure, without altering the composition of the municipal plenary.

In the same administrative act, the Mayor’s Office has designated Mercedes Callejón Alarcón as deputy mayor of the City Council of Durón. The appointment will take effect from the day following the signing of the aforementioned resolution, that is, starting September 16, 2026.

Official publication and legal framework
The dissemination of the agreement in the provincial gazette responds to the obligation to publicize the appointments of members of local government bodies. The announcement is accompanied by the electronic document verification code and the link to the official electronic office of the bulletin, mechanisms that allow for the verification of the authenticity of the published text.
The change in the deputy mayoralty of Durón modifies the distribution of responsibilities within the governing team of this municipality in the province of Guadalajara. With Mercedes Callejón Alarcón at the head of the deputy mayoralty, the council reorganizes its municipal leadership just a few days after the resignation of Herminio Couso Gago, who continues as a councilor and, therefore, maintains his voice and vote in the collegiate bodies of the City Council.
