Por FactBox Admin

The Department of Culture, Language and Youth has appointed two new general sub-directors in the General Secretariat for Language, key positions in Galician language policy. The decision was materialized through the Order of August 17, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG no. 160) on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, on page 46587, with the official reference CVE-DOG: cdpz8rj1-yxd7-bgp4-anw9-nel9ncjl4c86.
The order resolves the public call for the provision, via the system of free appointment, of two vacant job positions in the department, which had been called through the Order of June 18, 2026 (DOG no. 120, of June 30). The document is signed by the counselor José Carlos López Campos.
The two appointments
The selected individuals, career civil servants of the superior body of the general Administration of the Autonomous Community of Galicia (subgroup A1), occupy two level 30 positions in the General Secretariat for Language, based in Santiago de Compostela:
- Oliva Amorín López, general sub-director of Language Policy (position code CU.301.00.001.15770.001).
- María Coutinho Villanueva, general sub-director of Language Planning and Dynamization (position code CU.301.00.002.15770.001).
Regulatory framework and deadlines
The procedure complies with article 92 of Law 2/2015, of April 29, on public employment in Galicia, and article 27 of Decree 151/2022, of August 4, which approves the Regulation of mobility procedures for career civil servants of the general Administration of the Autonomous Community of Galicia.
The cessation from the current destination must take place within three business days from the publication of the order. The assumption of office in the new destination shall be three business days if it does not involve a change of residence, seven business days if it does, or one month when the successful candidate obtains reentry into active service upon taking office.
Appeals and impact
Against the order, which exhausts the administrative route, interested parties may file an optional appeal for reversal before the counselor of Culture, Language and Youth within one month, or challenge it directly before the competent contentious-administrative court within two months.
With these appointments, the General Secretariat for Language completes the leadership of two central areas for the promotion and use of Galician: language policy and language planning and dynamization. The filling of these level 30 positions by free appointment reinforces the Xunta’s capacity to execute its lines of action regarding linguistic normalization, at a time when Galician language policy is a subject of social and institutional attention.
