Two contracts for road safety and the A-3641 highway in Álava

The Foral Government Council of Álava approved on 4 August 2026 two new contracting files in the area of roads: the road safety improvement service on the provincial network, with a maximum budget of €655,895.23, and the drafting of the improvement project for the A-3641 road, for €330,616.94. Both contracts will be processed by open procedure and their approval appears in the extract of agreements published in the Official Gazette of the Historical Territory of Álava (BOTHA) of Wednesday 12 August 2026.

The files correspond to the Department of Sustainable Mobility and Road Infrastructure of the Provincial Council of Álava and are included in Agreements 545/2026 and 546/2026, contained in the extract of the provisions approved by the Foral Government Council at its ordinary session of 4 August (document 2026-02378, number 91 of the BOTHA). At that same session, the department also obtained approval for Agreement 547/2026, which approves the Noise Action Plan for the provincial road network of the Historical Territory of Álava.

Improvement of road safety on the provincial network

Agreement 545/2026 gives the green light to the contracting file for the road safety improvement service on the provincial road network, within the preventive and palliative actions for the 2026 financial year. The contract, which will be put out to tender by open procedure, has a maximum budget of €655,895.23, including VAT, and an execution period of twelve months.

This is a service contract aimed at acting on the entire provincial road network, with preventive and palliative interventions in response to the risks detected for users of Álava’s roads.

Improvement of the A-3641 between Ibaguen and Okondo

Agreement 546/2026 approves the file for the service contract for drafting the construction project for the improvement of the A-3641 road. The section covered by the project runs between kilometre point 48.44, where the intersection with the A-624 road in Ibaguen is located, and km 58.29, at the provincial boundary with Bizkaia in Okondo, a route of approximately 9.85 kilometres.

The contract has a budget of €330,616.94, including VAT, and an execution period of twelve months. Drafting the project is the previous step to undertaking the future improvement works on this axis, which connects the interior of the territory with the Biscayan provincial border and affects traffic travelling between both provinces.

The two files total EUR 986,512.17 and reflect the Provincial Council of Álava’s commitment to road safety and the improvement of the district road network: while the first acts preventively on the entire provincial road network, the second prepares the improvement of a section linking Ibaguen with Okondo and with the provincial boundary with Bizkaia. The decision, adopted at the 4 August session, directly affects users of Álava’s roads and constitutes the preliminary step for the future procurement of works on this corridor.
