Don Benito allocates 72,630 euros to training scholarships for vulnerable people

The Don Benito City Council (Badajoz) has published in the Official Bulletin of the Province (BOP) the approval of the bases and the call for grants aimed at participants in the EFESO Don Benito Program. This initiative, funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) 2021-2027, has an overall budget of 72,630 euros for the year 2026.

The publication, made in issue number 157 of the BOP of Badajoz, corresponding to Tuesday 18 August 2026, includes both the full text of the bases (Notice 3259/2026) and the extract of the call (Notice 3261/2026). The agreement has been digitally signed by the Mayor-President, Elisabeth Medina Bravo, who has promoted this mechanism of economic support for the most disadvantaged groups in the municipality.

Regulatory framework and origin of the grants

The grants arise under the Resolution of 17 October 2023 of the Directorate General for Regional and Local Cooperation, which approved the first call for employment training projects promoted by local entities under the EFESO program (Employment, Education, Training and Social Economy). The framework is completed by Order TER/701/2023 and the European regulations applicable to unit costs.

The main objective is to compensate for the expenses derived from participation in training activities, such as transport, meals and family conciliation, ensuring that no one is excluded for economic reasons. To this end, a system of direct awarding is established based on Article 22.2.c) of Law 38/2003, General Law on Subsidies.

Requirements for beneficiaries

The status of grant recipient is reserved for those who prove a situation of socioeconomic vulnerability. Specifically, applicants must demonstrate that they lack income or earnings equal to or greater than 75% of the Public Indicator of Multiple Effects (IPREM) on a monthly basis at the start of the training.

To justify this condition, a certificate of registration as a job seeker with the SEPE/SEXPE (not being a beneficiary of unemployment benefit) and a responsible declaration of income are required. The grants are compatible with part-time contracts entered into after the start of the itinerary and with other social benefits that do not exceed the limit of 75% of the IPREM.

Training itineraries and amounts

The call provides for a total of 60 places eligible for grants, distributed across four training itineraries, each designed for a maximum of 15 participants. The unit amount of the grant is set at 13.45 euros per school day of attendance.

The training programs include the following specialities:

• Cleaning in open spaces and industrial facilities (level 1): 270 hours of in-person training (54 school days), totaling €10,894.50.
• Management of urban and industrial waste (level 2): 455 hours of in-person training (91 school days), totaling €18,359.25.
• Installation and maintenance of gardens and green areas (level 2): 540 hours of in-person training (108 school days), totaling €21,789.00.
• Installation and maintenance of gardens and green areas (level 2): 535 hours of in-person training (107 school days), totaling €21,587.25.

Each itinerary has a calculated schedule of 5 hours per school day, and requires a minimum of 8 participants to begin the training action.

Application procedure

Applications must be submitted to the General Registry of the Don Benito City Council or through the electronic means provided for in Law 39/2015, within the deadlines established in the terms and conditions. The right to the scholarship will be accredited by resolution of the Mayor’s Office, following a report from the program director and verification of attendance through attendance records.
