Provincial Council subsidizes the 50th anniversary of the Arjona Flamenco Festival

The Provincial Council of Jaén has expanded its Strategic Grant Plan for the year 2026 with a new line of aid intended to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Arjona Flamenco Festival. The decision is formalized through Resolution number 509, issued on September 10, 2026, by the Deputy Delegate for the Area of Culture and Sports, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Jaén number 178, dated September 14, 2026.

The expansion incorporates Culture Line 16, which provides a grant of 18,800.00 euros under a direct award regime to the Arjona City Council for the organization of the event “50 Years of the Flamenco Festival in Arjona.” The execution period for the action spans from January 1 to December 31, 2026.

A commitment to municipalism and flamenco

The new line is framed within the municipalist vocation of the Provincial Council, which seeks to expressly support local initiatives through financial backing for city councils. Among the declared strategic objectives are contributing to the solidity of major provincial events that position Jaén as a cultural focal point and enabling access to culture for all citizens.

The specific objective of the grant is to promote flamenco in the province, promoting its cultural, natural, and historical heritage. The action is financed under the budget allocation 2026.610.3340.46204.

Conditions of the aid

The grant is awarded under a direct award regime, by agreement or resolution of the competent body, and is subject to the following conditions:

• Recipient: Arjona City Council.
• Amount: 18,800.00 euros.
• Execution period: from January 1 to December 31, 2026.
• Monitoring indicators: number of activities carried out and approximate number of attendees.

The contributions from the Provincial Council are compatible, if any, with those of the beneficiaries and with other grants, aid, or resources for the same purpose coming from any public or private administrations or entities, national, from the European Union, or from international organizations, provided they do not exceed the cost of the subsidized action.

Publication and transparency

In accordance with the provisions of Article 41.5 of the Budget Execution Bases for 2026, the publication of the announcement is ordered in the Official Gazette of the Province, as well as in the Transparency Portal and on the website www.dipujaen.es. The announcement is signed by the Deputy Delegate for the Area of Culture and Sports, María África Colomo Jiménez, dated September 10, 2026.

The commemoration of the half-century of the Arjona Flamenco Festival reinforces the role of this competition as a cultural reference point in the province, and the financial support of the Provincial Council guarantees the continuity of an event that establishes Jaén as a prominent stage for Andalusian flamenco.
