Huesca Provincial Council distributes 87,731 euros for the control of feline colonies

The Provincial Council of Huesca has resolved the call for grants for the control of feline colonies for the year 2026, awarding a total of 87,731.90 euros to 27 municipalities with fewer than 3,000 inhabitants. The decision was adopted via Decree No. 3145, dated September 14, 2026, signed by president Isaac Claver Ortigosa, and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Huesca number 176, dated September 15, 2026 (reference BOPH-2026-176001).

The resolution, processed by the Section of Development, Territorial Initiatives, and European Programs (DITPE), renders final the proposed resolution of September 11, 2026, following the reports of the Valuation Commission on August 31 and September 8. The summary of the call had been published in the BOP number 116, dated June 22, 2026, and the processed file is No. 1761546R.

Beneficiaries and amounts

The grants, which cover 80% of the eligible expenditure with a maximum of 5,000 euros per entity, are paid from budget item 2026-51-3112-462500, endowed with 120,000 euros. Among the municipalities granted the highest amounts are:

• Estadilla, with €5,000.00
• Canfranc, with €5,000.00
• La Puebla de Castro, with €5,000.00
• Hoz y Costean, with €5,000.00
• Salas Bajas and Salas Altas, with €5,000.00 each
• Gurrea de Gállego, with €4,982.96
• Campo, with €4,700.00

Most of the projects are based on the TNR method (trap, neuter, and return), microchip identification, and regulated feeding of the colonies.

Inadmissions and withdrawals

Four town councils are excluded from the call for failing to pass the pre-evaluation phase:

• Torrente de Cinca, inadmissible for submitting the application after the deadline
• Castillonroy, withdrawn for failing to respond to the request for correction
• Grañén, inadmissible for failing to provide a clear calendar and presenting insurmountable contradictions
• Aínsa Sobrarbe, inadmissible for failing to identify the cats with microchips in the name of the town council and including non-eligible medical treatments

Additionally, reductions are applied to Puebla de Castro (€180 for including trap cages and carriers) and Pueyo de Santa Cruz (€150 for including trap cages).

Justification deadlines

Beneficiaries must justify the grants before September 30, 2026, with an additional deadline to present proof of payment until October 15, 2026. These deadlines are non-extendable. The resolution, which exhausts administrative remedies, may be appealed within two months before the Contentious-Administrative Section of the Court of First Instance.
