Badajoz Provincial Council allocates 300,000 euros to recover small game hunting

The Provincial Council of Badajoz has announced grants totaling 300,000 euros for local hunting societies holding social game reserves to recover small game populations in the province during the 2026 fiscal year. The measure is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz No. 184, dated September 25, 2026, via Announcement 3680/2026, which contains the decree and the regulatory bases, and Announcement 3684/2026, containing the summary of the call.

The decree is signed by the Deputy Delegate of the Functional Area of Rural Development, Demographic Challenge, and Tourism, Ana Belén Valls Muñoz, acting by delegation of the President (decree of October 29, 2025, BOP No. 206). The call is supported by Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies, its Regulation approved by RD 887/2006, of July 21, and the general subsidy ordinance of the Provincial Council, within the 2026 strategic subsidy plan and linked to SDGs 15 and 8.

The Provincial Council launched this line of aid in 2025 and is now reissuing it. The text justifies the support based on the degradation of habitats and the decline in populations of hare, wild rabbit, and red-legged partridge, positioning local hunting societies as key actors to reverse this trend. The call is processed under a competitive bidding regime and is identified in the National Subsidy Database with number 930533.

Amount, beneficiaries, and limits

• Total allocation: 300,000 euros, charged to budget application 20/4140/78000/0800 of the 2026 budget.
• Maximum amount per project: 8,000 euros (VAT included), which may reach 100% of the cost of the actions.
• Beneficiaries: local hunting societies based in the province of Badajoz, holders of authorized social reserves without suspended hunting activities, and up to date with their tax and Social Security obligations.
• Only one project per entity is permitted, executed in a single social reserve.

Eligible actions

The bases organize the aid into three thematic blocks:

• Block A. Recovery and improvement of habitats: multifunctional margins, feeders and waterers, non-productive cereal crops without harvest, clearing with sowing of grasslands or meadows, and construction of water points.
• Block B. Recovery of the wild rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus): semi-extensive breeding nuclei, specific feeders and waterers, artificial warrens (majanos), non-productive crops, mechanized selective clearing, and restocking.
• Block C. Partridge restocking (Alectoris rufa): restocking of red-legged partridges and acclimation cages.

Maximum costs per unit range from 10 euros per red partridge specimen to 6,800 euros for the semi-extensive breeding center, with limits on surface area, units, or specimens per management unit.

Deadlines, processing, and evaluation

• Application deadline: 20 calendar days from the day following the publication of the summary in the BOP.
• Submission exclusively electronic via the Provincial Council’s electronic office (https://sede.dip-badajoz.es).
• Execution and payment of actions: from the resolution until September 15, 2027; justification until September 30, 2027.
• Resolution: maximum of three months from the end of the application period, with a negative administrative silence.
• Advance payment with subsequent justification, with no obligation for a bond or financial guarantee.
• Evaluation: up to 100 points per project, with 20 points for the municipality’s population, 20 for the participation of female members, 20 for technical diversity and coherence, 10 for the area of the hunting ground, 10 for the number of members, 10 for inclusion in Natura 2000, and 10 for not having been a beneficiary in the previous call.

The call continues a program that the Provincial Council presents as a tool for conservation and for stabilizing the population in rural areas. For hunting societies in small municipalities, the aid fully covers habitat improvement and restocking actions that they would hardly be able to finance on their own, and the scoring system prioritizes hunting grounds in less populated municipalities and those with a greater presence of female members.
