Badajoz Provincial Council announces three vacancies for Senior IT Technician

The Provincial Council of Badajoz, through its Functional Area of Public Employees, Occupational Health and Safety, has published the rules for the call to fill, via internal promotion, three vacant positions for Senior IT Technician. The announcement appears in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 177, dated September 16, 2026, under reference Announcement 3609/2026.

The positions are classified under the Special Administration scale, Special Services sub-scale, Special Assignments class, group A, subgroup A1, and correspond to the 2026 public employment offer of the Council and its autonomous bodies, approved by resolution of the Presidency on April 17, 2026, and published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura number 81, dated April 29, 2026. The selection system will be a competitive examination process (concurso-oposición).

Participation Requirements

The call is addressed to career civil servants of the Provincial Council of Badajoz and its public sector who wish to promote from subgroup A2. The required requirements are:

  • To be a career civil servant in a position classified in group A, subgroup A2.
  • To have held a group A2 position for a minimum of two years of active service, as a career or interim civil servant.
  • To possess the functional capacity to perform the tasks.
  • To hold an official university degree in Data Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Telematics Engineering, or Telecommunications Technology Engineering, or equivalent.

The requirements must be met by the deadline for the submission of applications and maintained throughout the selection process.

Deadline, Fees, and Submission

The deadline for submitting the application will be 20 business days, counting from the day following the publication of an extract of the call in the Official State Gazette (BOE). Registration must be carried out through the corporate electronic office of the Council, using a digital certificate.

The examination fee amounts to 37.76 euros, with the following exemptions and discounts:

  • 18.88 euros for large families of the general category (50% discount).
  • Exemptions for large families of the special category.
  • Exemptions for victims of terrorism and their spouses, domestic partners, and children.

Payment will be made via self-assessment using a debit or credit card, indicating in the details “Senior IT Technician Call, internal promotion”.

Selection System and Calendar

The process combines an examination phase, with a maximum of 20 points, and a merit phase, with a maximum of 6 points, for a total of 26 points. The examination phase consists of two eliminatory exercises:

  • First exercise (10 points): theoretical multiple-choice test, with 50 questions and 5 reserve questions, in a maximum of 60 minutes; each correct answer adds 0.2 points and each error subtracts 0.1.
  • Second exercise (10 points): three practical cases chosen from five proposed, in a maximum of two hours.

The competition phase evaluates services provided in subgroup A2 (up to 3 points), training courses (up to 2 points), and the possession of another equal or higher qualification (1 point). The schedule provides for the provisional list in a maximum of two months, the final list in 15 business days, the start of the procedure within six months, and a maximum resolution of twelve months.
