Badajoz Provincial Council opens 315,000 euro grant for protection equipment

The Provincial Council of Badajoz has opened the call for grants-in-kind for the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) to municipalities with a population of fewer than 20,000 inhabitants and to smaller local entities in the province, with a total allocation of 315,000 euros. The call, promoted by the Functional Area of Public Employees, Occupational Health and Safety, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 167, dated September 1, 2026, through announcements 3396/2026 (rules) and 3436/2026 (extract), and sets an application deadline of 10 calendar days.

The measure is part of the Provincial Council’s Provincial Cooperation Plan and the Strategic Grant Plan for 2026, approved in an extraordinary plenary session on January 30, 2026. Its objective is to facilitate the compliance of local entities with regulations on minimum health and safety provisions, providing PPE to workers hired under the 2026 municipal economic collaboration employment programs and the Agricultural Employment Promotion Program (PFEA), specifically for the “Income Guarantee Projects in the province of Badajoz for the year 2026”.

Allocation and Distribution

The total credit amounts to 315,000 euros, distributed across two budgetary applications:

• €296,495.00 for capital transfers to city councils with a population of fewer than 20,000 inhabitants.
• €18,505.00 for capital transfers to smaller local entities.

The distribution combines a fixed amount and a proportional criterion: each entity initially receives 1,000 euros, and the remainder is distributed based on the amounts received by each entity from the Regional Government of Extremadura grant lines for personnel hiring. According to the rules, the participation of 160 city councils and 15 smaller local entities is expected.

Beneficiaries and Requirements

All municipalities and smaller local entities in the province with a population of fewer than 20,000 inhabitants that meet the requirements of Article 13.2 of Law 38/2003, General Law on Subsidies, may qualify as beneficiaries, including:

• Not having been convicted by a final judgment to the loss of the possibility of obtaining public subsidies.
• Being up to date with their reimbursement obligations to the Provincial Council of Badajoz.
• Not having been sanctioned with the loss of the possibility of obtaining subsidies.
• Being up to date with tax obligations to the State Treasury and Social Security.

The justification of these requirements will be carried out through a responsible declaration (Annex II).

Submission and Resolution

Applications shall be submitted exclusively electronically through the electronic office of the Provincial Council (https://sede.dip-badajoz.es/), using the digital certificate of representation of the local entity, within a period of 10 calendar days from the publication of the summary in the BOP. The resolution corresponds to the President of the Provincial Council, who must issue and publish it within a maximum period of 3 months from the end of the submission period, in the BOP and in the National Grants Database (BDNS, identifier 926858). The delivery of the equipment will take place once the resolution has been issued and the PPEs have been acquired through the appropriate procurement process.

The call, signed by the Third Vice President and Delegated Deputy of the Area, Ramón Díaz Farias, reinforces the occupational safety of municipal employees and PFEA workers throughout the province, in line with sustainable development goals 3 and 8 of the 2030 Agenda, which promote a safe and decent working environment for all workers.
