Mabel Herrera appointed executive director of the Warmi Ñan program

The Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations (MIMP) appointed Mabel Milagros Herrera Castañeda as executive director of the National Program for the Prevention and Eradication of Violence against Women and Members of the Family Group – WARMI ÑAN. The appointment was officialized through Ministerial Resolution No. 000496-2026-MIMP, signed in Lima on September 6, 2026, and published in the Monday, September 7, 2026 edition of the Official Gazette El Peruano.

The resolution, signed by Minister María Magdalena Seminario Marón, appoints Herrera Castañeda to a position of trust that was vacant, following the corresponding selection process. The document bears the official reference 2551451-1 and appears in the Legal Norms section of the bulletin.

A key position in gender policy

The WARMI ÑAN program is the Peruvian State’s national instrument for the prevention and eradication of violence against women and members of the family group. Its executive director is a strategic position within the MIMP, responsible for coordinating territorial interventions and victim care services throughout the country.

Procedure and endorsements

The appointment was processed with the endorsement of the Viceministerial Office of Women, the General Secretariat, the General Office of Human Resources, and the General Office of Legal Counsel. The file was supported by technical reports and memorandums issued by these bodies, which confirmed the vacancy of the position and the need to fill it.

The resolution consists of a single article, by which Mabel Milagros Herrera Castañeda is appointed to the position of trust as executive director of the program, and mandates its registration, communication, and publication.
