Deputación da Coruña duplica ata dous millóns as axudas ao patrimonio cultural

The Deputación da Coruña has doubled the allocation of the Grant Program for councils to carry out special protection actions on public cultural heritage or heritage under municipal management in the year 2026 (DP0045/2026). The expansion, which increases the call from 1,000,000.00 to 2,000,000.00 euros, was agreed upon by the Presidency of the corporation through resolution number 43146, dated October 9, 2026, and published in the Boletín Oficial da Provincia da Coruña (BOP) number 205, dated October 27, 2026, with official reference 2026/6933. The measure is justified by the need to “have sufficient funds to attend to the maximum number of applications submitted” that meet the program’s requirements.

What changes for the councils

The increase affects a line of aid directed at the province’s municipalities and linked to the conservation, protection, and enhancement of cultural assets under public ownership or managed by the councils. With the now-published resolution, the amount initially set for 2026 is doubled, which expands the economic margin to resolve files that, under the original allocation, would not have been accommodated.

The resolution itself recalls that, when the amount of 1,000,000.00 euros was determined, the bases already provided that this figure “could be subject to budgetary modification.” This provision is what is now being activated, without the need to modify the regulatory bases, but only the amount of the call.

  • Initial allocation of the call: 1,000,000.00 euros.
  • Approved increase: 1,000,000.00 euros.
  • Resulting allocation for 2026: 2,000,000.00 euros.
  • Beneficiaries: councils of the province of A Coruña.
  • Object: special protection actions on public cultural heritage or heritage under municipal management.

The regulatory bases of the program were approved by Presidency Resolution number 46992, dated October 10, 2025, modified by Presidency Resolution number 47244, dated October 14, 2025, and published in BOP number 197, dated November 11, 2025. Within that framework, the provincial governing body approved the increase in allocation following the processing of the corresponding credit modification file.

The milestones of the procedure are as follows:

  • Presidency Resolution number 43146, dated October 9, 2026, which mandates the increase.
  • Credit modification file number 04 of the Plenary, processed under number 2026000012061, in which the budgetary application 0112/93391/76201 was supplemented by 1,000,000.00 euros.
  • Favorable reports from the Heritage and Procurement Service and the Audit and Financial Control Service of the Deputación da Coruña.
  • Publication in BOP number 205, dated October 27, 2026, under reference 2026/6933.

The administrative file of the call is identified by number 2025000039963 and is processed in the General Secretariat, through the Heritage and Contracting Service of the Deputación da Coruña.

Signatories and scope of the publication

The resolution is dated October 22, 2026, in A Coruña and is signed by the president of the Deputación da Coruña, Valentín González Formoso, and by the general secretary, Miguel Iglesias Martínez. The agreement also enables the execution of “the necessary accounting operations and documents” to make the credit supplement effective.

The text published in the provincial bulletin details the motivation for the increase and the budgetary application that supports it, in addition to expressly indicating the purpose of covering the highest possible number of requests that meet the requirements. It does not, however, provide the number of applications received nor the distribution by municipality.

The decision occurs within a context of reinforcing provincial policies to support local cultural services, a field in which the Deputación da Coruña develops an annual package of subsidies aimed at strengthening the economic and technical capacity of councils in the area of culture and heritage.

Overall, the operation means that the province’s municipalities have double the funds this year to undertake actions for the protection of cultural heritage, a circumstance especially relevant for small councils with fewer own resources to assume investments in conservation, documentation, or improvement of listed assets. The expansion also reduces the risk that projects which had already applied for the call relying on the initial allocation will fall outside the deadline.
