Dólar approves a broiler poultry farm on rustic land

The Plenary of the Dólar City Council definitively approved, in a session on July 27, 2026, the authorization for extraordinary actions of public interest on rural land, which will allow the installation of a broiler poultry farm within the municipal district. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Granada number 169, dated September 2, 2026, and is subject to compensatory payment and the obtaining of the urban planning license within one year.
The authorization corresponds to file 22/2026 and is processed under Article 22 of Law 7/2021, of December 1, for the promotion of the sustainability of the territory of Andalusia, in accordance with Article 32.2.e) of its General Regulation, approved by Decree 550/2022, of November 29. The application was submitted by Mr. José Carlos Travé Gómez, representing Mr. David Olea Reyes, and affects the plot with cadastral reference 18071A505000350000RP, located in Polygon 505, Plot 35, in the municipality of Dólar.
The authorized installation
The action comprises the installation of a broiler poultry farm accompanied by the electrical infrastructure necessary for its operation:
- Broiler poultry farm (fattening chickens).
- 20 kV medium voltage overhead line.
- 50 kVA transformation center.
- Low voltage network.
The action project, prior to the municipal license, is subject to the limitations and requirements of the Urban Planning Technician’s report dated May 7, 2026.
Conditions of the authorization
The authorization has an indefinite duration, although the cessation of activities for more than five consecutive years will lead, following a hearing with the interested party, to the loss of validity and the obligation to restore the land to its natural state. Furthermore, the application for the urban planning license for the execution of the works must be submitted within one year of the grant, and the material execution of the works will be subject to compensatory payment for the extraordinary use and enjoyment of the land.
Appeals and publicity
The agreement, which concludes the administrative process, was signed by Mayor Rafael Martínez Tudela in Dólar on August 25, 2026. The following appeals may be filed against it:
- Optional appeal for reversal before the Plenary of the City Council, within one month.
- Contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Granada, within two months.
The decision, which affects the rural environment and local residents, opens the door to intensive livestock farming on rustic land within the municipality, with the corresponding impact on the landscape, traffic, and electrical infrastructure. Publication in the official bulletin guarantees the transparency of the procedure and allows interested parties to exercise the appeals provided by law.
