Czech cadastre office publishes new workplace districts for October

The Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre (Český úřad zeměměřický a katastrální) has published the new list of cadastral workplaces of the cadastral offices, together with their names, seats and the territorial districts in which each exercises the competence of the relevant cadastral office. The notice, dated 26 August 2026, takes effect on 1 October 2026 and is published in Sbírka zákonů part 161 of 2 September 2026.

The notice is issued under § 5(2) of Act No. 359/1992 Sb. on surveying and cadastral authorities, as amended by Act No. 175/2003 Sb. and Act No. 277/2019 Sb. It is signed by the office’s chairman, Ing. Štencel.

What the notice covers

The document lists, for each of the 14 regional cadastral offices, the individual cadastral workplaces and the municipalities (and military districts) falling within each workplace’s territorial district. The districts are defined by the cadastral office for which the workplace acts, so that every municipality in the country is assigned to a specific workplace.

• Katastrální úřad pro hlavní město Prahu — a single workplace, Praha, covering the municipality of Prague.
• Katastrální úřad pro Jihočeský kraj — workplaces in České Budějovice, Český Krumlov, Jindřichův Hradec, Písek, Prachatice, Strakonice and Tábor.
• Katastrální úřad pro Jihomoravský kraj — workplaces including Blansko, Boskovice, Brno-město, Brno-venkov and Břeclav.
• Katastrální úřad pro Moravskoslezský kraj — workplaces including Ostrava and Třinec.
• Katastrální úřad pro Olomoucký kraj — workplaces including Hranice, Jeseník and Olomouc.
• Katastrální úřad pro Zlínský kraj — workplaces including Kroměříž, Uherské Hradiště, Uherský Brod, Valašské Klobouky, Valašské Meziříčí, Vsetín and Zlín.

How the districts are defined

Each workplace is identified by its name and seat, and the notice enumerates the municipalities for which it exercises competence. In several cases the same municipality name appears in more than one district, distinguished by the district (okres) in parentheses, for example Březina (okres Blansko) and Březina (okres Brno-venkov). Military districts are also assigned, such as vojenský újezd Boletice under the Český Krumlov workplace.

The list is exhaustive and replaces the previous delimitation, so that from 1 October 2026 every land-register application must be filed with the workplace competent for the municipality where the property is located.

What it means for citizens and firms

For citizens and companies, the practical effect is that the cadastral workplace handling a given property may change, and with it the office where ownership transfers, mortgages and other entries in the land register (katastr nemovitostí) are lodged. Anyone planning a transaction should confirm the competent workplace for the municipality concerned before filing.

The notice is a routine but binding administrative publication, and the new delimitation applies automatically from 1 October 2026 without further action being required.
