Cubo de Bureba announces the position of substitute justice of the peace
Por FactBox Admin

The Cubo de Bureba City Council has opened a public call to fill the vacancy for substitute justice of the peace, whose term is about to end. The announcement, signed on 4 August by the mayor-president Roberto Cabezón Gómez, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos No. 153, of 14 August 2026, in section III, Local Administration (reference BOPBUR-2026-03415).
The position is regulated by the Organic Law of the Judiciary and by the Regulations of the Justices of the Peace, number 3/1995, of 7 June, provisions which the call itself cites as the framework for requirements, disqualifications and incompatibilities. The edict, which appears on page 33 of issue No. 153 of the BOP of Burgos —published by the Provincial Council of Burgos—, is disseminated as the term of the current substitute justice of the peace of Cubo de Bureba approaches its end. With this open call, the city council allows any person who meets the requirements to apply for the position.
Requirements for applicants
The bases establish three conditions to apply for the post:
- Be Spanish and of legal age.
- Meet the conditions that the Organic Law of the Judiciary requires for entry into the judicial career, with two exceptions: a law degree is not required, nor are the limitations derived from retirement due to age applied, provided that this does not constitute a physical or psychological impediment to performing the duties of the position.
- Not be subject to any cause of incapacity or incompatibility.
Required documentation
Together with the application, interested parties must provide:
- Photocopy of the national ID card.
- Sworn declaration of not being subject to any cause of incompatibility or prohibition provided for in articles 101.2, 102, 389 and 395 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary and in the Regulations of the Justices of the Peace, number 3/1995, of 7 June.
The required documentation allows the city council to verify that applicants do not fall within the prohibitions provided for in the sectoral regulations.
Submission deadline
Applications may be submitted at the municipal offices until 1:00 p.m. on the first Friday following the fifteenth working day counted from the day after the publication of the announcement. As the edict was published on Friday 14 August, the counting of the deadline begins on 15 August and the municipal offices will remain open for the following fifteen working days, placing the closing date in the first half of September.
With this call, Cubo de Bureba guarantees coverage of an essential position for local justice administration through an open, public procedure with equal conditions for all applicants. Any Spanish adult who is not subject to grounds for incompatibility may submit their application within the deadline established in the rules, with no further requirements than those published in the bulletin. The dissemination of the announcement in the BOP of Burgos reinforces the transparency of the succession and allows residents of the municipality to learn firsthand the terms of the process.
