CReSAP opens ten competitions for leaders of Social Security and institutes

The Recruitment and Selection Commission for Public Administration (CReSAP) has opened ten competitive procedures for senior management positions within the State’s indirect administration, including the presidency and the two member positions of the board of directors of the Social Security Institute, I. P. (ISS, I. P.). The notices were published in the Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 205, of October 22, 2026, in Part C, and applications are open for a period of ten working days starting from the publication on the CReSAP website.

The ten notices invoke no. 2 of article 19 of Law no. 2/2004, of January 15, in its updated version, and are signed by the president of CReSAP, Damasceno Dias, with dates between October 6 and 16, 2026. The indication of the formal appointment requirements, the desired profile, the composition of the jury, and the selection methods will be publicized in the Public Employment Exchange (BEP), with the full notice available at www.cresap.pt.

Seven positions in the Social Security universe

The majority of the procedures are concentrated in the Social Security Institute, I. P.: in addition to the president of the board of directors, competitions are open for the two member positions, which corresponds to the full renewal of the management body. Added to these are four territorial management positions, three of which are in the district of Lisbon.

The presidency of ISS, I. P. is currently held by Pedro Alexandre da Rosa Corte Real, who on the same day was appointed as the Government’s alternate to the Economic and Social Council by Council of Ministers Resolution no. 208/2026, published in the 1st series.

Three central institutes and children’s rights

The remaining three competitions cover central entities of the social state and the justice area, all headquartered in Lisbon and under direct government supervision.

A wave of ongoing competitions

This Thursday’s publication joins a series of procedure openings for the district directorates of Social Security already announced in October, specifically for the district centers of Faro, Leiria, Portalegre, and Aveiro. The model is uniform: ten working days for applications counted from the publication on the CReSAP website, with the full notice and the required profile to be disclosed by the commission itself and by the BEP.

The simultaneous renewal of seven positions at the ISS, I. P. and three leaderships of central institutes means that, in the coming months, the majority of the senior management of these entities will be chosen by competition, and not by direct appointment. For readers, the practical effect is twofold: on one hand, a application window of only ten working days opens, accessible to public administration staff and external managers who meet the published profile; on the other, the teams that will have to execute the Social Security budget and the policies for childhood and youth in 2027 are defined.
