Coasts initiates the demarcation of Regatón beach in Laredo
Por FactBox Admin

The Coastal Demarcation of Cantabria has initiated the boundary demarcation proceedings for the maritime-terrestrial public domain over a stretch of approximately 2,241 meters corresponding to Regatón beach, between the Puntal de Laredo and the mouth of the Regatón stream, in the municipality of Laredo. The announcement, processed under reference DES01/14/39/0001, is published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria (BOC) no. 188, dated September 30, 2026, and opens a one-month period for any interested party to submit allegations.
The initiation is made public in compliance with the provisions of Article 21.2.a of the General Coastal Regulations, approved by Royal Decree 876/2014, of October 10. The proceedings affect the provisional delimitation of the maritime-terrestrial public domain and the protection easement zone, such that its resolution may condition the legal status of the estates and constructions located in the surroundings of this coastal stretch of the municipality.
A 2,241-meter stretch between the Puntal and the stream
The scope of the demarcation covers approximately 2,241 meters of coastline and is delimited by two specific geographical references:
- The Puntal de Laredo, as the starting end of the stretch.
- The mouth of the Regatón stream, as the final end.
- The municipality of Laredo, where the entire area is located.
The provisional delimitation includes both the maritime-terrestrial public domain and the protection easement zone, which determines the limitations on use and construction applicable to the adjacent lands.
One-month deadline and public consultation of the plans
The announcement grants a period of one month, counted from the day following its publication, for interested persons to appear in the proceedings, examine the plans, and present any allegations they deem appropriate. The documents can be consulted through two channels:
- The offices of the Coastal Demarcation of Cantabria in Santander, Juan de Herrera 18 street, 2nd floor, Monday to Friday on working days from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
- The web portal of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, at the public participation address for proceeding DES01/14/39/0001.
Issuing body and signature of the announcement
The proceedings are processed by the Coastal Demarcation of Cantabria, a unit dependent on the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge with competencies over the management of the maritime-terrestrial zone. The announcement is dated in Santander on September 23, 2026, and signed by the head of the Demarcation, José Antonio Osorio Manso.
The publication in the Official Gazette of Cantabria (Boletín Oficial de Cantabria) no. 188, dated September 30, 2026, is the act that formally activates the calculation of the deadline and guarantees the participation of those affected before the final delimitation is resolved.
The demarcation directly affects landowners and facility holders in the vicinity of Regatón beach, who from now on have one month to review the plans and defend their rights over the properties. The resolution that concludes the proceedings will definitively establish the maritime-terrestrial public domain line and the protection easement in this stretch of the Laredo coastline, with effects on the use, buildability, and value of the affected lands.
