Por FactBox Admin

Cortes de tráfico en Lanzarote por la Virgen de los Dolores

The Provincial Traffic Headquarters of Las Palmas, under the General Directorate of Traffic, has adopted special traffic regulation measures on the island of Lanzarote on the occasion of the feast of the Virgen de los Dolores, celebrated on September 12 and 13, 2026. The announcement, registered under number 1847639, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 108, dated September 9, 2026, on page 15678.

The decision responds to reasons of road safety, mobility, and traffic flow, given the large influx of people and vehicles expected on public roads during the celebration. The resolution, signed by the provincial head of Traffic, Eva Canitrot Vázquez, is based on Article 5, sections k) and n), and Article 16 of the Royal Legislative Decree 6/2015, of October 30, as well as Articles 37 and 39 of the General Circulation Regulations, approved by Royal Decree 1428/2003, of November 21.

Affected roads and schedules

The restrictions affect seven roads on the island, with total or partial closures and, in some sections, one-way traffic or speed limits. The closures are concentrated between 08:00 and 22:00 on the 12th, and extend on several roads until 06:00 on the 13th.

  • LZ-46 (Tiagua-Mancha Blanca): closed from 10:00 on the 12th until 06:00 on the 13th, between kilometer points 0+000 and 4+550, except for security and emergency vehicles, organization vehicles, and at designated crossing points.
  • LZ-56 (Mancha Blanca-La Geria): closed from 08:00 on the 12th until 06:00 on the 13th, between PK 0+300 and 5+775, except for public transport and emergencies; additionally, one-way traffic La Geria-Mancha Blanca between PK 0+000 and 0+300.
  • LZ-58 (Masdache-La Vegueta): closed from 08:00 on the 12th until 06:00 on the 13th, between PK 4+600 and 5+890, except for emergencies.
  • LZ-67 (La Santa-Yaiza): closed from 15:00 to 23:00 on the 12th, between PK 4+790 and 7+500, except for public transport and emergencies.
  • LZ-409 (Mozaga-La Vegueta): closed from 08:00 on the 12th until 06:00 on the 13th, between PK 0+000 and 3+520, except for emergencies.
  • LZ-30 (Teguise-Uga): closed from 08:00 to 22:00 on the 12th, between PK 6+550 and 7+900, and from 11:30 to 12:30, between PK 7+900 and 8+575, except for Tourist Center vehicles and emergencies.
  • LZ-20 (Arrecife-Tinajo): one-way traffic Arrecife-Tinajo from 00:00 to 22:00 on the 12th, between PK 7+660 and 8+590; and section open in both directions with speed limited to 60 km/h from 10:00 to 22:00, between PK 13+100 and 17+000.

Exceptions to the closures

On all affected roads, passage is maintained for security and emergency vehicles, and specific exceptions are provided for each section depending on the type of road. Thus, on the LZ-56, collective transport is permitted; on the LZ-67, public transport; and on the LZ-30, vehicles from Tourist Centers, while on the LZ-46, crossing points are enabled for residents.

Impact for residents and tourists

The measure directly affects travel through the center and south of Lanzarote, an area with high traffic from both residents and tourists during the holiday weekend. Drivers are recommended to plan their routes in advance, respect temporary signage and the enabled one-way systems, and anticipate delays at the entrances to the towns where religious events are being held.
