Cortes de tráfico en Lanzarote por la Virgen de los Dolores

The Provincial Traffic Headquarters of Las Palmas has established special traffic regulation measures on several roads in Lanzarote on the occasion of the feast of the Virgen de los Dolores, celebrated on September 12 and 13, 2026. The decision, adopted for reasons of road safety, mobility, and traffic flow, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 108, dated September 9, 2026, via announcement 2.949 (registry 1847639).

The measure responds to the large influx of people and vehicles expected on public roads during the festivities. The document is signed by the provincial head of Traffic, Eva Canitrot Vázquez.

Exceptions and recommendations

The closures provide exceptions for essential services. On all roads, passage is permitted for security and emergency vehicles, and depending on the section, also for collective transport, public transport, event organization, and access to Tourist Centers.

Drivers and residents of the island are recommended to plan their trips in advance, respect the provisional signage and the instructions of the officers, and plan alternative itineraries during peak hours. One-way traffic and speed reductions on the LZ-20 aim to organize the flow of vehicles toward the celebration points.

Impact for readers

The feast of the Virgen de los Dolores attracts a large number of faithful and visitors to the center of Lanzarote every year, making these restrictions a necessary measure to ensure road safety. Drivers traveling through the affected roads during the weekend must exercise extreme caution and adapt to the established schedules and directions of traffic, which will remain in effect until the morning of Sunday, September 13.
