Cortes de tráfico en Cádiz por desfiles, romerías y carreras

The Provincial Traffic Headquarters of Cádiz has authorized a special traffic management operation due to the celebration of several events in different towns of the province, which will require dynamic and intermittent closures on roads such as the A-405, the A-2304, the N-340, and others. The measure, adopted via resolution by the acting provincial chief, Ana María Zúñiga Sánchez, on August 27, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cádiz number 175, dated September 10, 2026.

The closures are in response to the celebration of equestrian parades, processions, pilgrimages, and a night race affecting interurban roads, and aim to ensure that traffic is “as safe and fluid as possible” during their development.

The resolution is based on articles 5 and 6 of Law 6/2015, of October 30, which approves the revised text of the Law on Traffic, Motor Vehicle Circulation, and Road Safety, which grants the General Directorate of Traffic the authority for the organization, control, and management of traffic on interurban roads. It is also supported by articles 37 to 39 of Royal Decree 1428/2003, of November 21, which approves the General Circulation Regulations, regulating special traffic management for reasons of safety or fluidity.

Events Motivating the Closures

The closures are associated with the following events held in the province:

  • September 3: Equestrian parade in Honor of Our Lady of Los Ángeles.
  • September 5: Alkalat Night Race.
  • September 6: Procession in Honor of Our Lady of Los Ángeles, Procession of the Virgin of the Stones, and the Tarifa Agricultural Cavalcade.
  • September 8: Romería de las Montañas (Pilgrimage of the Mountains).
  • September 13: Romería Santísimo Cristo de Romeral (Pilgrimage of the Most Holy Christ of Romeral).

Impact for drivers

Drivers traveling on these interurban roads during the indicated time slots should anticipate delays and, if necessary, alternative itineraries, as the closures are mandatory for affected users. The resolution reminds that the closure and opening to traffic will be carried out by the authority agents responsible for traffic surveillance and discipline, and that the signaling of alternative itineraries is the responsibility of the competent traffic authority.
