Justice of the Peace positions announced in Huerta de Arriba and Huerta de Rey

Por FactBox Admin

The city councils of Huerta de Arriba and Huerta de Rey have published respective public calls to fill the positions of justice of the peace in their municipalities, as the term of the current holder is nearing its end in the first case and that of the substitute has already ended in the second. The announcements are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos number 158, dated August 21, 2026, and establish a period of fifteen business days for the submission of applications.

Both calls are processed in accordance with article 5.1 of Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, on Justices of the Peace, and articles 101 and 102 of Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary. In the case of Huerta de Arriba, article 101.2 of the LOPJ is also cited, while Huerta de Rey refers to articles 101 and 102 of the same regulation.

Requirements for applicants

The guidelines establish common conditions for both municipalities, which are summarized in the following points:

  • Be Spanish and of legal age.
  • Reside in the corresponding municipality (Huerta de Arriba or Huerta de Rey).
  • Meet the requirements demanded by the Organic Law of the Judiciary for entry into the judicial career, except for that of holding a law degree and that derived from age retirement, provided that the latter does not constitute a physical or psychological impediment to the performance of the office.

Documentation and submission deadline

Interested parties must submit an application for election to the position addressed to the Plenary of the corresponding city council, accompanied by a photocopy of the DNI (National ID) and a sworn statement that they are not subject to any cause of incapacity, incompatibility, or prohibition provided for in articles 102, 303, 389, and 395 of the LOPJ and in article 23 of the Regulation of Justices of the Peace.

Applications shall be submitted to the General Registry of each city council within a period of fifteen business days, counted from the day following the insertion of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos.

Election of candidates

Among the applicants, the Plenary of each city council will choose the person they consider suitable to hold the office. The announcements are signed by the mayors of both municipalities: Ángel Fernández García, mayor of Huerta de Arriba, and José Antonio Cámara Molinero, mayor of Huerta de Rey, both dated August 11, 2026.

Filling these positions ensures the continuity of the local administration of justice in two municipalities of the province of Burgos, an essential service for the resolution of minor matters and the judicial assistance of residents without the need to travel to the capital.
