Owners summoned for the expropriation of land for the new Castellón hospital

The Department of Health of the Generalitat Valenciana has published an announcement in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) calling upon the owners of the affected assets and rights to the drawing up of the payment and occupation records for the compulsory expropriation proceedings initiated to obtain the land necessary for the execution of the new Castellón General University Hospital. The call, signed by the regional minister Marciano Gómez Gómez, is published in issue number 10435 of the bulletin, dated August 24, 2026, with reference DOGV-C-2026-26211.

The construction and renovation works for the new healthcare facility were declared to be of general interest and public interest by the Council Agreement of March 3, 2023. Subsequently, after the expropriation project was submitted for public review, the Agreement of the Department of Health of October 28, 2025, definitively approved the aforementioned project, declared the need for occupation, and initiated the compulsory expropriation proceedings.

Drawing up of records

In accordance with the Compulsory Expropriation Law of December 16, 1954, the affected owners are called to appear for the drawing up of the payment records for the concurrent amount or the limit of agreement, according to the appraisal sheets of the Administration and the owner, as well as for the occupation of the land. The act will take place on September 18, 2026, starting at 09:30 hours, at the City Council of Castelló de la Plana, in the offices of the Quatre Cantons building, calle de Enmedio, no. 82, 3rd floor.

Appearance requirements

Interested parties must attend provided with their national identity document and prove ownership of the assets if they have not done so in another phase of the procedure. In the event of opting to be represented by other persons, these must prove their representation in the manner established in article 5 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the common administrative procedure of public administrations.

The resolution calling for the drawing up of records will be notified to the interested parties or their representatives. The announcement is likewise published for the purposes established in article 44 of Law 39/2015, for interested parties who are unknown, whose place of notification is ignored or, if attempted, could not be carried out.

A key step for the new healthcare infrastructure

The expropriation of the land constitutes a decisive step to unlock the construction of the new Castellón General University Hospital, a healthcare infrastructure declared of general interest that must replace and expand the current hospital facilities of the capital of the Plana. With the drawing up of the payment and occupation records, the regional administration is moving forward in obtaining the land necessary to begin works long demanded by the citizens and healthcare professionals of the province.
