Call for entries for the Peace Culture and School Coexistence Awards in Andalusia

The General Directorate for Inclusion, Coexistence, and Participation of the Regional Ministry of Education has announced the 18th edition of the Annual Awards for the Promotion of the Culture of Peace and School Coexistence in Andalusia for the 2026/2027 school year. The call is published via the Resolution of September 8, 2026, in the Official Gazette of the Regional Government of Andalusia number 180, dated September 16, 2026, on page 11921.

The resolution, signed by the Director General Almudena García Rosado, continues a program established since 2009, when the Order of October 27, 2009, of the Regional Ministry of Education (BOJA no. 220, of November 11) regulated the granting of these awards. The order itself establishes, in Article 7, that each edition is announced annually via a resolution from the head of the general directorate competent in matters of coexistence.

Awards and Financial Endowment

The call includes three award categories with a total financial endowment of 10,000.00 euros, which will be charged to the budget application 1100010900 G/54C/22608/0001:

• First prize: 5,000.00 euros.
• Second prize: 3,000.00 euros.
• Third prize: 2,000.00 euros.

These three categories may be shared among several centers based on the evaluations made by the jury, in accordance with Article 11 of the regulating order.

Honorary Mentions

In addition to the financial prizes, the jury may grant honorary mentions to those educational centers that, without winning a prize, carry out outstanding actions in the promotion of the culture of peace and school coexistence. These distinctions may also be granted to institutions or personalities of recognized prestige in the fields of the culture of peace, coexistence, and conflict resolution.

Deadline and Processing

Candidacies may be submitted within a period of 15 business days, counting from the day following the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Regional Government of Andalusia. The resolution is issued in accordance with the powers established in Decree 194/2026, of July 30, which establishes the organic structure of the Regional Ministry of Education.

The awards will be made public via a resolution from the head of the general directorate with competence in matters of coexistence, which will likewise be published in the Andalusian official gazette.

Relevance of the Call

This XVIII edition consolidates the commitment of the Andalusian administration to the improvement of coexistence in educational centers supported by public funds, a pillar that dates back to Decree 19/2007, of January 23, on measures for the promotion of a culture of peace. The awards publicly recognize the work of centers that transform classrooms into spaces for dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution, and offer a direct economic incentive to sustain these good practices during the next academic year.
