Eleven Local Police inspector positions announced in five Galician municipalities

The General Directorate of the Galician Academy of Public Security (AGASP), dependent on the Ministry of Presidency, Justice and Sports of the Xunta de Galicia, announces eleven positions for inspector of the executive scale of the Local Police forces of Galicia. The positions are distributed among the municipalities of Vigo, Santiago de Compostela, Ferrol, Vilagarcía de Arousa, and Teo, and are offered through two channels: access via internal promotion and provision via mobility. The resolution, signed on September 2, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo no. 228, of October 6, 2026, with reference R. 2632.

The call originates from the Order of August 11, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) no. 158, of August 21, 2026, which approved the general regulatory bases and announced the two processes. Subsequently, in DOG no. 166, of September 2, 2026, an order was published that modified the object of the call and added one more position in the municipality of Santiago de Compostela through the internal promotion system.

The resolution bears the signature of the general director of AGASP, Santiago Villanueva Álvarez, and the general secretary of the Presidency, Beatriz Cuiña Barja, and is dated in A Estrada on September 2, 2026.

The announced positions

The number and characteristics of the positions are established as follows:

• Vigo: 3 positions via internal promotion and 1 via mobility.
• Santiago de Compostela: 3 positions via internal promotion.
• Ferrol: 2 positions via internal promotion.
• Vilagarcía de Arousa: 1 position via internal promotion.
• Teo: 1 position via mobility.

In total, the call comprises eleven positions: nine offered via internal promotion and two via mobility. The modification published in DOG no. 166 was what increased the final figure, by adding one more position in Santiago de Compostela.

Two differentiated processes

The call is structured into two clearly differentiated channels. The first is the selective process for access via internal promotion, identified by procedure code PR461F, aimed at local police officers already serving in the forces who aspire to be promoted to the category of inspector.

The second channel is the provision process via mobility, with procedure code PR461J, which regulates the change of destination between personnel coming from other municipalities. Both refer to the executive scale, inspector category, of the Local Police forces of Galicia.

Both processes are governed by the general bases approved by the regional order of August 11, 2026, which establish the requirements, the tests, and the development of the calls.

Application deadline and successive announcements

The application period shall be twenty business days, counted from the day following the publication of the announcement of the call for applications and the order of its modification in the Official State Gazette.

Successive announcements regarding this call shall be made public in accordance with the bases that regulate it.

The call opens a promotion path for Galician local police officers who wish to access the category of inspector, as well as an opportunity for mobility between municipalities, within a context of reinforcing the executive scales of the Local Police forces.
