Constituida la Junta Electoral de Zona de Soria para las elecciones generales

The Zonal Electoral Board of Soria was constituted in a session on October 9, 2026, with Fernando Páez Terrero as president, two members of judicial origin, and Antonia Pomeda Iglesias as secretary. The constitution edict is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Soria no. 119, of October 16, 2026, page 3498, with the official reference BOPSO-119-16102026, in application of articles 14.1 and 15.3 of the L.O.R.E.G.

The body is activated following the publication in the Official State Gazette of October 6, 2026, of Royal Decree 806/2026, of October 5, dissolving the Congress of Deputies and the Senate and calling for elections to both chambers, which sets the date for the polls for November 29, 2026. The appointment of the members of judicial origin who make up the zonal electoral boards was agreed upon by the Permanent Commission of the Governing Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Castilla y León in Burgos, by agreement of October 8, 2026.

The edict, signed in Soria on October 9, 2026, by the secretary of the Board, is issued in compliance with article 14.3 of the L.O.R.E.G., the regulation that mandates the public disclosure of the constitution of these electoral administration bodies.

Composition of the Zonal Electoral Board of Soria

The Board is composed of the following members, according to the details published in the edict:

  • President: Mr. Fernando Páez Terrero.
  • Judicial members: Ms. María Paz Redondo Sacristán and Ms. Berta María García Márquez.
  • Secretary: Ms. Antonia Pomeda Iglesias.

The secretary is responsible for the issuance and publicity of the constitution agreement and appears as the signatory of the edict sent to the provincial gazette.

The constitution is supported by articles 14.1 and 15.3 of the Organic Law of the General Electoral Regime (L.O.R.E.G.), which regulate the composition and functioning of the zonal electoral boards. Members of judicial origin are not chosen by parties, but are appointed by the governing body of the High Court of Justice of Castilla y León, which guarantees the independence of the body in the oversight of the process.

Royal Decree 806/2026 is the regulation that opens the electoral calendar: it dissolves the two chambers of the General Courts and calls for general elections, the administrative development of which corresponds to the electoral Administration at its provincial and zonal levels.

The remaining electoral boards of the province

The province of Soria has three zonal electoral boards, all of which were constituted on the same date and published in the provincial gazette:

  • Zonal Electoral Board of Soria, constituted on October 9, 2026, and published in no. 119, dated October 16, 2026.
  • Zonal Electoral Board of Almazán, constituted on October 9, 2026, and published in the extraordinary issue of October 12, 2026, presided over by Iván Tobar Alzuguren.
  • Zonal Electoral Board of El Burgo de Osma, constituted on October 9, 2026, and published in the extraordinary issue of October 12, 2026, with Ana Isabel Benito de los Mozos as president.

In the same extraordinary issue, the constitution of the Provincial Electoral Board of Soria, presided over by María Luisa García García, was publicized, as well as the list of municipalities with the number and boundaries of the electoral sections, their venues, and the corresponding polling stations, prepared by the Electoral Census Office of the Provincial Delegation of Soria.

Closing

With the constitution of the Zonal Electoral Board of Soria, the body that oversees the census, candidacies, and electoral claims within the zonal area becomes operational, an essential step so that the province’s voters can cast their ballots on November 29, 2026. Interested parties have six days from the publication of the list of sections and polling stations to file claims before the Provincial Electoral Board, which issues a final resolution within five days.
