Por FactBox Admin

The Provincial Electoral Board of Pontevedra was constituted on October 9, 2026, for the general elections of the coming November 29, according to the edict published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Pontevedra (BOPPO) no. 197, of October 13, 2026, with reference AP-01. The constitution session was held under article 14.3 of Organic Law 5/1985, of the General Electoral Regime (LOREG), after the elections were called by Royal Decree 806/2026, of October 5.
The call for the general elections was published in the Official State Gazette no. 248, of October 6, 2026, and set the voting day for Sunday, November 29. From that moment, the electoral boards—provincial and zonal—must be constituted and assume the functions of administration and control of the electoral process in each constituency. In the case of the province of Pontevedra, the provincial body has jurisdiction over all the municipalities of the province and over the candidacies running in this constituency.
Composition of the Provincial Electoral Board
The Provincial Electoral Board of Pontevedra is composed of a president, two judicial members, and a secretary, all of whom are based at the Provincial Court of Pontevedra:
- President: María Nélida Cid Guede, president of the Fifth Section of the Provincial Court of Pontevedra.
- Judicial member: Flora Lomo del Olmo, magistrate of the Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Pontevedra.
- Judicial member: José Ramón Sánchez Herrero, magistrate of the Fifth Section of the Provincial Court of Pontevedra.
- Secretary: Marina Polo Renú, lawyer of the Administration of Justice and director of the Common Processing Service of the Provincial Court of Pontevedra.
Additionally, Alberto González Burdiel, provincial delegate of the Electoral Census Office, is part of the board, with a voice but without a vote. The two non-judicial members will be appointed once the candidacies have been proclaimed, in accordance with article 10.1.b of the LOREG.
Headquarters, hours, and public attention
The headquarters of the board is located in the Palace of Justice, at Rosalía de Castro street, no. 5-ground floor, Pontevedra. The body has agreed upon a regime of attention to the public and to the representatives of the candidacies that is expanded based on the needs of the service and extends until 24:00 hours on days when deadlines expire:
- Monday to Friday: from 09:00 to 13:00 and from 17:00 to 19:30 hours.
- Saturdays, from 10/10/2026 to 28/11/2026, both inclusive: from 10:00 to 13:00 hours.
- Sunday 18/10/2026, end of the deadline for claims regarding sections, premises, and polling stations (art. 24.3 of the LOREG): from 10:00 to 13:00 hours.
- Monday 26/10/2026, end of the deadline for the presentation of candidacies: from 09:00 to 13:00 and from 17:00 to 24:00 hours.
- Sunday 29/11/2026, voting day: from 08:00 to 20:00 hours.
Key deadlines and constitution of the zonal boards
The calendar established in the edict sets two immediate milestones for parties, candidates, and voters: the deadline for claims regarding sections, polling stations, and tables ends on October 18, and the submission of candidacies closes on October 26. Until that date, the two non-judicial members who complete the composition of the provincial board cannot be appointed.
On the same day, October 13, the provincial bulletin publishes the constitution of the zone electoral boards of the province, including those of A Estrada, Cambados, Lalín, Pontevedra, Ponteareas, Tui, and Vigo, all of which were constituted on October 9, 2026, and are composed of magistrates and lawyers from the respective courts of first instance.
Impact for voters
The constitution of the Provincial Electoral Board of Pontevedra formally opens the electoral process in the province and establishes the channel to which parties, candidates, and citizens must turn for claims, appeals, and inquiries regarding the general elections of November 29. The extended hours, with service on Saturdays and on deadline closing days, seek to ensure that candidacies can complete the procedures within the legal timeframes.
