Monforte: delegation to the councils and preparation of the polling stations
The minutes of the constitution of the board of Monforte de Lemos, drawn up in the Courtroom of the Court of First Instance at 11:00 hours on October 9, include agreements that go beyond the simple appointment of positions. None of the judicial members expressed a desire to run in the elections, therefore it was unanimously agreed that the presidency be exercised by Cristina Jiménez Fernández Ahuja, judge of the Court of First Instance of Sarria.
The board agreed to delegate to the secretaries of the councils in the area the notification, appointment, and summoning of the members of the polling stations, as well as to authorize the delegation of the functions of sealing the ballot boxes. It was also decided to send an official letter to the mayors so that they may communicate the places reserved for the free placement of posters and the premises for free use for propaganda acts, in accordance with articles 56 and 57 of the electoral law. Subsequent summons will be notified to the members by telephone or personal communication.
What it means for the voters
With the constitution of these bodies, the electoral process in the province of Lugo formally begins, which now faces the organization of the polling stations, the appointment of their members, and the enabling of premises and propaganda spaces. The electoral boards will be responsible for resolving claims and incidents of the campaign and for ensuring the integrity of the process until the vote on November 29.
