Economic and Social Council: new members from the University of A Coruña

The president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda Valenzuela, has ordered the appointment of Bruno Casal Rodríguez as full member and María Berta Rivera Castiñeiras as substitute member of the Economic and Social Council of Galicia representing the University of A Coruña. The decision is detailed in Decree 95/2026, of September 30, published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) number 192, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, on page 51830. The regulation was signed in Santiago de Compostela on September 30, 2026.

The appointment is made under the provisions of Article 8, third paragraph, and Article 9.1 of Law 6/1995, of June 28, which creates the Economic and Social Council of Galicia, as well as Articles 8 and 10 of its Internal Regulations. The proposal comes from the University of A Coruña, which thus designates the persons who will represent it in the body. The text is included in section II of the bulletin, dedicated to authorities and personnel, within section B) of appointments, and bears the signature of the president of the Xunta.

The publication of the appointment is completed with the simultaneous cessation of the previous representatives, processed in an independent decree. Both texts share the same signature date and appear consecutively in the same issue of the bulletin, reflecting a coordinated renewal of the university representation in the Council. Decree 94/2026 occupies page 51829 and Decree 95/2026 occupies page 51830.

The new representatives of the University of A Coruña

Decree 95/2026 organizes the appointment into two points. The first designates the full member and the second the substitute, both representing the University of A Coruña:

• Bruno Casal Rodríguez, as full member of the Economic and Social Council of Galicia.
• María Berta Rivera Castiñeiras, as substitute member of the same body.

The regulation expressly distinguishes between the two positions, so that the representation of the academic institution is covered by two people, one as a full member and another as a substitute.

The cessation of previous members

The handover is completed with Decree 94/2026, of September 30, which orders the cessation of the representatives who previously held those positions:

• Ángel Santiago Fernández Castro, who ceases as full member.
• América Álvarez Domínguez, who ceases as substitute member.

The regulation is based on Article 9.1, second paragraph, and Article 10.f) of Law 6/1995, and Article 9.e) of the Council’s Internal Regulations. Like the appointment decree, it invokes the proposal made by the University of A Coruña and is signed by the president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda Valenzuela.

Legal basis and administrative framework

The two decrees base their validity on Law 6/1995, of June 28, the regulation that created the Economic and Social Council of Galicia, and on the regulation governing its internal functioning. The publication in DOG number 192 of October 8, 2026, provides official publicity to the movements and establishes their entry into force in accordance with the general regime of the provisions published in the bulletin.

The renewal of the representation of the University of A Coruña in the Economic and Social Council of Galicia directly affects the composition of a body in which the academic institution has a voice through two positions, one titular and one substitute. With the appointment of Bruno Casal Rodríguez and María Berta Rivera Castiñeiras, and the cessation of Ángel Santiago Fernández Castro and América Álvarez Domínguez, the handover is completed and the university representation in the Council is updated.
