Consellería do Mar: axudas FEMPA para modernizar preto de sesenta conserveiras

The Consellería do Mar has made public the grants awarded in the 2026 call for investments in SMEs for the processing of fishery and aquaculture products, co-financed at 70% by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF). The Resolution of October 14, 2026, published in section III of the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) no. 205, on Tuesday, October 27, occupies pages 53828 to 53832 and bears the reference CVE-DOG: wjoawxz3-oki4-isi5-me96-1tkjzi8bih62. The annex brings together 70 subsidy lines benefiting more than fifty processing companies.

The publication complies with article 32 of the regulating order, article 15.1 of Law 9/2007, of June 13, on subsidies in Galicia, and article 45 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the common administrative procedure of public administrations. The bases are in the Order of December 23, 2025 (DOG no. 13, of January 21, 2026), which regulates procedure PE201B under a competitive bidding regime and processed as an advance expenditure file. The resolution is signed, by delegation, by Isaac Miguel Rosón Sánchez-Brunete, Director General of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Technological Innovation.

The budget for the call grew throughout the year. The Order of September 14, 2026 (DOG no. 180, of September 22), signed by the counselor Marta Villaverde Acuña, increased the maximum amount by €5,000,000.00 —€2,500,000.00 in the 2026 annuity and the same amount in 2027—, bringing the total credit to €19,000,000.00 charged to application 16.02.723B.770.6. The extension was justified because the requested amount exceeded the available credit and made it impossible to meet all requests that fulfilled the requirements. The call appears in the National Subsidy Database with the identifier BDNS 882127.

Seven purposes for the eligible investment

The bases establish that projects must fall within one of these lines:

  • Promote the quality and added value of products.
  • Improve energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, or improve the sustainable mobility of distribution.
  • Increase safety, hygiene, health, and working conditions.
  • Favor the circular economy: prevention, optimization of processes, minimization of waste, eco-design and eco-efficiency, utilization of unwanted catches and by-products, and use of discards.
  • Process organic aquaculture products in accordance with articles 7 and 8 of Regulation (EC) no. 2018/848.
  • Adapt operators to the certification requirements of Regulation (EU) no. 1151/2012 and Regulation (EU) no. 2018/848 itself.
  • Give rise to new products, processes, or management and organization systems.

The largest amounts are concentrated in Rianxo, Transfrío, and Rías Gallegas

Five projects absorb the main part of the published distribution:

  • Conservera de Rianxo, S.A. (A15211295): €4,311,235.37 for “Smart canning industry (4.0): energy transition and environmental improvement”.
  • Transfrío Rías Baixas, S.L. (B27826965): €4,051,209.36 for a logistics center for the processing of fresh and frozen fish.
  • Conservas Rías Gallegas, S.L. (B75796474): €2,039,204.50 for the construction of a new warehouse and the acquisition of equipment and machinery.
  • Conservas Friscos, S.A. (A36602381): €1,604,088.22 for process improvements and resource utilization.
  • Conservas Antonio Pérez Lafuente, S.L. (B22531834): €1,050,253.87 for the renovation of a new ecological canning warehouse.

Following these are Frigoríficos Rosa de los Vientos, S.L. (B36219541), with €787,500.00 to modernize industrial refrigeration; Conservas Cerqueira, S.A. (A36600518), with €676,703.88 and a second grant of €96,422.26; Frigoríficos de Vigo, S.A. (A36600880), with €512,255.89; Mejillones Sabor de Mar, S.L. (B15055783), with €455,601.45; Orbe, S.A. (A36601672), with €424,814.56 and €382,500.00; and Pesca Río Noval, S.L. (B70108907), with €399,426.63.

Companies with multiple actions and small-scale grants

Several beneficiaries receive more than one grant in the same announcement:

  • Conservas Lago Paganini, S.L. (B36167534): seven actions, ranging from €284.25 for a histamine measurement device to €76,225.00 for a refrigerated truck.
  • Cocedero Barrañamar, S.L. (B15612815): three grants, between €32,500.00 and €61,125.50.
  • Cassua, S.L. (B15914237), Wadakyu Europe, S.L. (B27813245), Pescados Mijesan, S.L. (B70035274) and Conservas Cerqueira, S.A.: two grants each.

The annex shows a very fragmented fabric: alongside the large canning companies appear shellfish gatherers, mollusk purifiers, and cold storage facilities with small grants, such as the €2,702.80 for Mariscos Trelles, S.L. (B36041622) or the €5,750.00 for Mariscos Elvira, S.L.U. (B36300952).

The list published today is a portrait of the investment effort of the Galician processing sector in a year marked by rising energy costs and the demand for food certifications. For the beneficiary companies, the resolution opens the way to the justification of the investments executed, while the rest of the sector already has a public reference of the lines that concentrate the support of the EMFAF on the Galician coast.
