Por FactBox Admin

The General Directorate of Coasts and Management of the Canarian Maritime Space has opened for public consultation the request for authorization to occupy maritime-terrestrial public domain lands for the execution of the project “Conecta Dunas”, in the Maspalomas Dunes Special Natural Reserve, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria. The announcement, signed on August 8, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands number 176, dated September 2, 2026, in section V of Announcements, page 33815.

The request is promoted by the Canarian Association of Forest Education Fénix and contemplates an occupation for a period of four years. The procedure is processed in accordance with article 52.2 of the Law 22/1988, of July 28, on Coasts, and article 152 of the General Regulations of Coasts, approved by Royal Decree 876/2014, of October 10.

Period for allegations and consultation of the file

The project serving as the basis for the request will be available to any interested person for a period of twenty (20) business days, counted from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands. During this period, any allegations deemed appropriate may be submitted.

The file may be consulted through two channels:

  • Through the website of the Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility, in the space dedicated to public information on Coasts.
  • At the Ministry’s offices, from 9:00 to 14:00 hours, Monday to Friday, at Profesor Agustín Millares Carló Street, no. 22, Multi-Purpose Building I, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and at Avenida Francisco La Roche, no. 35, Multi-Purpose Building I, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

How to submit allegations

Allegations must be addressed to the Eastern Coast Administrative Service of the General Directorate within the aforementioned Ministry. Their submission may be carried out through any of the means indicated in article 16 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

The announcement is signed by the Director General of Coasts and Management of the Canarian Maritime Space, Antonio Manuel Acosta Felipe, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, on August 8, 2026.

Relevance for Gran Canaria

The processing opens the door to an intervention in one of the most emblematic and sensitive natural spaces of the archipelago, the Maspalomas Dunes, with an evident environmental and tourist impact for the south of Gran Canaria. Citizen participation during the public information period is key so that residents, entities, and administrations can assess the compatibility of the project with the protection of the natural reserve before the final resolution is adopted.
