Livestock competition at the Muras Poldro Fair 2026

The Muras City Council announces the equine and bovine livestock competition of the 2026 Poldro and Mountain Livestock Fair, which will be held in the village of Gañidoira. The regulatory bases were published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo, number 196, on Friday, August 28, 2026, under reference R. 2300, and are signed by the delegated councilwoman Paula Gómez Souto, by virtue of the delegation resolution 2026-0411 of August 16.
The call aims to revitalize the local livestock sector, promote the exhibition and buying and selling of animals, and boost meat raised in the municipality, both foal and bovine. Participants will benefit from free promotion of their animals, which will be judged by professionals in the sector, and registration is completely free.
Participation and registration
All natural and legal persons within the livestock sector who attend the fair and expressly request a pen and participation in the competition may participate. Animals must be properly documented, and those whose exclusive use is sporting or leisure are excluded.
- Registration period: from the publication of the bases until September 22, 2026.
- Submission: at the registry of the Muras City Council or via the electronic office (muras.sedelectronica.gal).
- List of admitted participants: September 23; claims until September 25.
- Classification: morning of September 27 starting at 10:30 AM.
Prizes cannot be paid to anyone who is not up to date with their tax obligations (AEAT, Atriga, Muras City Council) and Social Security.
Jury and prizes
The jury will be composed of three qualified veterinary technicians:
- Sonia Verdes Gil
- Manuel Doval Arza
- Jacobo Álvarez Torres
Their decision shall be irrevocable and shall be recorded in a signed minute, which will be delivered to the City Council at the end of the fair. Prizes will be paid by bank transfer within a maximum period of ten calendar days from September 28.
- Highest number of equine and/or bovine heads: 1st €300, 2nd €200, 3rd €150, 4th €100, 5th €75.
- Best equine stallion, best mare, best equine lot, best equine breeding of the year, best bovine stallion, best cow, best bovine lot, and best bovine breeding of the year: 1st €150, 2nd €100, 3rd €75 in each category.
Publication and data protection
The bases and the prizes awarded will be published in the National Grants Database and on the electronic notice board of the Muras City Council. The processing of participants’ data is covered by Law 7/1985 on the bases of the local regime, Law 38/2003 general law on grants, and Royal Decree 887/2006, with the data controller at the Muras City Council and the data protection delegate of the Lugo Provincial Council.
The fair is consolidating itself as a key event for the livestock sector of Terra Chá, combining the promotion of local meat with the buying and selling of animals and the professionalization of participants, as part of the City Council’s commitment to boosting the rural economy and giving visibility to the municipality’s farms.
