Por FactBox Admin

The Ministry of the Interior authorizes, for the year 2027, the opening of external and internal competitive examinations for the recruitment of 3rd class driving license and road safety inspectors. This decision is formalized by the decree of August 5, 2026 (NOR INTH2621088A), published in the Official Journal of the French Republic No. 0201 of August 29, 2026.
Candidates have a deadline to register: registrations have been open since September 8, 2026, and close on November 9, 2026, via electronic or postal means, with the postmark serving as proof of date. The eligibility tests will be held on January 12, 2027, in the examination centers, and the admission tests will begin from March 1, 2027, in the Île-de-France region.
Registration Procedures
Registration forms are available for download on the Ministry of the Interior’s website, with separate addresses for the internal and external competitions. They can also be requested by mail by enclosing an A4 envelope stamped at the current rate for a letter up to 100 g, addressed to the candidate’s name and address, at the following address:
- Ministère de l’intérieur, SG/DRH/SDRF/BRPP/Section concours, 27, cours des Petites-Écuries, 77185 Lognes.
Registration is recorded at the candidate’s choice, either electronically or by mail, with the chosen examination center. Any incomplete or incorrectly filled-out application will be rejected.
Examination Centers in Mainland France and Overseas
Examination centers are open in all regions of mainland France, as well as in overseas departments and collectivities, provided that at least one application is registered there. The centers concerned include:
- Lognes (Île-de-France), Marseille (PACA), Ajaccio (Corsica), Besançon and Dijon (Bourgogne-Franche-Comté);
- Montpellier (Occitanie), Bordeaux, Poitiers and Limoges (Nouvelle-Aquitaine), Nantes (Pays de la Loire), Orléans (Centre-Val de Loire);
- Amiens and Lille (Hauts-de-France), Châlons-en-Champagne, Metz and Strasbourg (Grand Est), Lyon (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes), Caen and Rouen (Normandie), Rennes (Brittany);
- Overseas: Basse-Terre (Guadeloupe), Fort-de-France (Martinique), Cayenne (French Guiana), Saint-Denis (Réunion), Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, Mamoudzou (Mayotte), Uvéa (Wallis and Futuna), Tahiti (French Polynesia) and Nouméa (New Caledonia).
Organization of Tests
For the two written eligibility tests, distinct subjects will be developed and distributed by lottery between two geographical zones: the first zone covers metropolitan France, Réunion, Mayotte, Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, and Saint Pierre and Miquelon; the second zone groups French Polynesia, New Caledonia, and Wallis and Futuna.
The oral admission test will take place in the Île-de-France region for all eligible candidates. Candidates residing in overseas collectivities or abroad, those with a disability, those who are pregnant, or those whose state of health requires it may, upon request, benefit from videoconferencing, under the conditions provided for by the decree of July 8, 2024. Candidates requesting test accommodations must submit a medical certificate issued by an approved physician less than six months before the tests.
The number of positions offered for each competition will be set by ministerial decree, and the composition of the jury will be subject to a decree from the Minister of the Interior, posted at the test sites and on the ministry’s website.
A recruitment opportunity in the civil service
This opening of competitions constitutes a concrete opportunity for access to the civil service for both external candidates and public agents already in post. 3rd class driving license and road safety inspectors carry out essential control and road safety missions, and positions will be distributed across the entire territory, including overseas. Interested candidates are invited to submit their application before the closing date of November 9, 2026.
