2027 Public Finance Inspectors Competition: registrations open

The General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFiP) is opening, for the year 2027, an external competitive examination for the recruitment of public finance inspectors. Registrations are open from September 7 to October 8, 2026, as provided for by the order of August 31, 2026 (NOR CPPE2620394A) and the competition notice (NOR CPPE2620396V), published in the JORF No. 0206 of September 4, 2026, under the authority of the Ministry of Action and Public Accounts.

This recruitment, one of the most anticipated in the State civil service, falls within the framework of the special status of Category A personnel of the DGFiP, established by the amended Decree No. 2010-986 of August 26, 2010. The number of places offered, as well as the volume of positions reserved for beneficiaries of the military invalidity pensions and war victims code, and via contractual means for beneficiaries of employment obligations, will be the subject of a subsequent order published in the Official Journal.

Conditions for Admission to the Competition

To register, candidates must meet the general conditions for access to State public employment:

• hold French nationality or be a national of a Member State of the European Union, the European Economic Area, Andorra, Monaco, or Switzerland;
• enjoy full civil rights and be in a regular position with regard to the national service code;
• hold a bachelor’s degree (licence) or a title or diploma classified at least at level 6 (formerly level II), or a recognized equivalent qualification.

The diploma requirement must be met by August 1, 2027, the first day of the month preceding the appointment as a trainee civil servant. This requirement does not apply to mothers and fathers of at least three children, nor to high-level athletes, referees, and judges. The status provides for a probationary training period and an obligation to serve the State for a minimum period of 7 years following this training.

Calendar and Conduct of Tests

The written eligibility tests will take place according to geographical zones:

• 1st and 2nd zones (metropolitan France, Reunion, Mayotte, Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Saint-Pierre-and-Miquelon): on December 7 and 8, 2026;
• 3rd zone (French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Wallis and Futuna): on December 7 and 8, 2026, in French Polynesia, and on December 8 and 9, 2026, in New Caledonia and Wallis and Futuna.

The oral admission test will take place from March 8 to 12, 2027. Distinct subjects per geographical zone are planned, with a distribution by random draw carried out by the jury president. Upon registration, the candidate specifies the option in which they will take eligibility test No. 2, a final choice after the close of registrations.

Registration Procedures and Accommodations

Registration is carried out online in a single phase on the platform recrutements.dgfip.finances.gouv.fr. Candidates unable to register online may complete a paper application with the National School of Public Finance (ENFiP), attractiveness and candidate reception service (email infocandidat@dgfip.finances.gouv.fr, telephone 0806-70-49-49). The deadline for sending applications by mail (postmark as proof) is set for October 8, 2026, and registration via internet or email until 11:59 p.m., Paris time, on the same day.

Candidates with disabilities may benefit from exam accommodations (duration, splitting, human and technical assistance), upon request made during registration, with the submission of a medical certificate no later than October 15, 2026. Videoconferencing is possible for the oral exam, upon request submitted no later than January 22, 2027, for candidates residing in overseas territories or abroad, those with disabilities, those who are pregnant, or those whose state of health requires it.

Scope of Recruitment

This external competition constitutes a major entry point into the professions of public finance management, within an administration that recruits several hundred inspectors each year. For candidates, the challenge is twofold: passing written exams starting in December 2026, followed by an oral exam in March 2027, prior to probationary training and an obligation to serve the State for seven years.
