The technical and performance spots for the Galician Center have been granted

The Department of Presidency, Justice and Sports has published in the Official Gazette of Galicia the granting of technical and sports performance places at the Galician Center for Sports Technical Training (CGTD) in Pontevedra for the 2026/27 season. The Resolution of September 1, 2026, signed by the general secretary for Sports, Roberto García Fernández, appears in DOG no. 174, of September 14, and resolves under a competitive bidding process the applications submitted under the Order of June 17, 2026 (procedure code PR952A).

The call is framed within Law 3/2012, of April 2, on Galician Sport, and the regulatory bases published in DOG no. 119, of June 29, which established a one-month deadline for submitting applications. The Selection Commission evaluated the candidacies on August 13, 2026 and, after the claims period, the General Secretariat for Sports issued the proposal for the final resolution.

Processing and appeals

The provisional lists of admitted, excluded, and pending amendment applicants were published on August 14 on the website of the General Secretariat for Sports. In accordance with article 10.2 of the order, interested parties had 10 business days to file claims, a period during which 16 appeals were submitted, examined by the Evaluation Commission in a session on August 31, 2026.

Granted places

The resolution grants places for the use of the CGTD facilities in Pontevedra, applying the criteria of articles 17, 20, 21, and 22 of the regulatory bases:

• Technical training group (Annex I): 97 athletes, in modalities such as canoeing, taekwondo, badminton, swimming, artistic swimming, rowing, athletics, judo, triathlon, gymnastics, sailing, and wrestling, with resident and external places.
• Performance group (Annex II): 10 resident 2 grants and 40 external 2 grants, distributed among the federations of canoeing, triathlon, taekwondo, judo, swimming, gymnastics, rowing, wrestling, and badminton.

The scores awarded to each athlete are published in Annexes V and VI of the resolution.

Denied applications and appeals

Applications listed in Annexes III (technical training) and IV (performance) are denied for not meeting the beneficiary conditions. Reasons include failure to meet academic requirements, failure to obtain the “fit” status in the medical analysis, non-compliance with the bases, waiver of the place, exceeding the student limit per course, a negative technical report from the federation, and the modality’s place quota being filled.

The resolution exhausts the administrative route. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed before the head of the department within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal before the High Court of Justice of Galicia within two months of its publication.

The publication provides legal certainty to Galician athletes and federations, who now know the definitive composition of the technical and performance groups for the next season, as well as the scores that determined the allocation of places at Galicia’s main high-performance sports center.
