The Board of Directors of the National Microfinance Commission (CONAMI) authorized the registration of CRÉDITO SEGURO, SOCIEDAD ANÓNIMA, which may be abbreviated as “CREDISEGURO, S. A.”, in the National Registry of IMFs, as a Microfinance Institution (IMF). The authorization is effective as of September 2026 and enables the company to grant microcredits to small and medium-sized merchants, expanding the financial inclusion offer in the country.
The decision was adopted through Resolution CD-CONAMI-063-01AGO27-2026, approved in ordinary session No. 08-2026 on August 27, 2026, and published in La Gaceta, Official Gazette No. 169, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, page 9126 (Reg. 2026-868).
Regulatory Framework
The registration is based on Law No. 769, “Law for the Promotion and Regulation of Microfinance,” whose consolidated text appears in Law No. 1175, “Law of the Nicaraguan Legal Digest on Banking and Finance Matters,” published in La Gaceta No. 153 on August 20, 2024. Resolution CD-CONAMI-027-02NOV30-2023, “Standard on the Registration Requirements for Microfinance Institutions in the National Registry of IMFs,” published in La Gaceta No. 03 on January 10, 2024, also applies.
The regulator verified that CREDISEGURO, S. A. meets the criteria of Article 20 of Law No. 769 and the requirements of the registration standard, as it is a commercial legal entity dedicated to granting microcredits and complementary financial services using its own or intermediated funds.
The Company and its Corporate Purpose
The application was submitted on May 8, 2026, by Félix Pedro Flores García, acting as the legal representative of the company. The company was constituted through public deed number thirteen (13) in the city of Chinandega, before notary María José Lira Rivera, and registered in the Public Property Registry of Chinandega on February 13, 2026, under registration account MC-XIE1CU.
According to the fourth clause of the articles of incorporation, the purpose of the company includes:
- The provision of services of a commercial nature, engaging in commercial activity as a microfinance entity.
- The granting of microcredits to small and medium-sized merchants, natural and legal persons who request them.
- Loans based on movable guarantees, mortgages, and any other asset or right.
- The import and export of goods and services.
- The granting of credits or financing in national currency (córdobas) and other currencies.
Scope of the Authorization
With the registration, CREDISEGURO, S. A. may carry out all operations and enjoy the privileges established in Law No. 769, being obliged to comply with the provisions issued by the Board of Directors or the Executive Presidency of CONAMI regarding the submission of documentation. The resolution was signed by Jim Madriz López (President), Freddy José Cruz Cortez, Alejandra Leonor Corea Bradford, Flavio Chiong Aráuz, Denis Reyna Estrada, and Álvaro José Contreras (Secretary).
Registration in the National Registry of MFIs is mandatory for all institutions that carry out microfinance activities, regardless of the amount of their capital, in accordance with Law No. 769.
Impact
The incorporation of CREDISEGURO, S. A. into the regulated microfinance system expands the credit offer for small and medium-sized merchants, a key segment for the Nicaraguan economy. By operating under the supervision of CONAMI, the new MFI joins a framework that seeks the economic and social inclusion of the lower-income population through income-generating activities and the promotion of gender equity.
