Closure of the Youth Rent Bonus in Extremadura due to exhaustion of funds

The Regional Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Housing of the Junta de Extremadura has announced the end of the validity period for the call for state aid under the “Youth Rent Voucher” (Bono Alquiler Joven) program, corresponding to the 2026 and 2027 annualities, as the credit linked to it is estimated to be exhausted. The decision is published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura (Diario Oficial de Extremadura) number 167, dated August 28, 2026, through the modification of the Summary of the Resolution of June 17, 2026 (official reference 2026062215).

The announcement directly affects young people who had not yet submitted their application, as any request for recognition of the aid will no longer be admitted for processing following the publication.

Framework of the call

The aid was announced through the Resolution of June 17, 2026, from the General Secretariat of the Regional Ministry, whose Summary was published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura number 126, dated July 2, 2026. The call is governed by the provisions of articles 17.3.b) and 20.8.a) of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17. The application period was three months, starting from July 15, 2026.

Exhaustion of credit

According to the agreement adopted, the estimation of the applications submitted so far would lead to the exhaustion of the credit linked to the call. Therefore, it is agreed:

• To announce the end of the validity period of the call for the purpose of submitting applications.
• To modify the first paragraph of section 5 of the Summary of the Resolution of June 17, 2026.

New deadline regime

With the modification, the wording of section 5 is drafted as follows:

• “The application period will end on the day the announcement of the termination of the call’s validity period is published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura, for the purposes of submitting applications for grant recognition.”
• “Applications submitted thereafter will not be admitted for processing.”

The agreement, dated in Mérida on August 4, 2026, is signed by Cristóbal Maza Olivera, Director General of Mobility and Transport, by substitution (PS) of the Counselor’s Resolution of June 16, 2026 (DOE no. 117, of June 19, 2026).

Impact for readers

The early closure of the call for applications means that young people from Extremadura who had not yet formalized their application for the Youth Rent Voucher (Bono Alquiler Joven) will no longer be able to access this state aid for the 2026-2027 period, as the available budget has been exhausted. Those who already submitted their application within the deadline will have their file processed according to the credit estimation carried out, while requests submitted after the publication of the announcement will not be admitted for processing.
