Chile recognizes 27 Spanish university undergraduate and postgraduate degrees

The Undersecretariat of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education recognized 27 university degrees obtained from Spanish universities, through exempt resolution No. 5,275, dated August 20, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Chile on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 (No. 44,540, Section II, Particular Norms, reference CVE 2860096). The administrative act enables the professionals to practice in Chile.

The measure is issued within the framework of the Mutual Recognition Agreement of Professional Degrees and Academic Degrees of University Higher Education between the Republic of Chile and the Kingdom of Spain, signed on June 23, 2017, in Santiago and promulgated by decree No. 113, of 2018, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The agreement entered into international force on June 24, 2018.

Scope of recognition

The resolution recognizes 17 undergraduate degrees (first article) and 10 postgraduate degrees (second article). All correspond to accredited or verified programs published in the Official State Gazette, with a certificate of correspondence to the Spanish Framework of Qualifications for Higher Education (Meces), level 2 (undergraduate) or 3 (postgraduate), and with the corresponding apostille.

Among the recognized undergraduate degrees are:

• Graduate in Dentistry from the University of Seville (Cristina Álvarez Romero).
• Civil Engineer of Roads, Canals and Ports from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (José Javier Pascual Gómez).
• Graduate in Electrical Engineering from the University of La Rioja (Jesús Palacios Almoguera).
• Bachelor of Laws from the National University of Distance Education (José María Jiménez Ortega).
• Graduate in Physiotherapy from the University of Málaga (Tiare González Cuadrado).
• Bachelor of Medicine from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Laura Zamora Gómez).
• Graduate in Medicine from the University of Seville (Carmen Milagros Filigrana Valle).

Recognized postgraduates

In the postgraduate field, master’s degrees and one doctorate are recognized, including:

• Master’s in Social Intervention in Knowledge Societies from the International University of La Rioja (Carlos Omar Moraga Marisio).
• Master’s in Neuropsychology and Education from the International University of La Rioja (Deisy Loreto Ayamante Díaz).
• Master’s in Sports Performance and Health from the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (Benjamín Commentz Niedmann).
• Master’s in Medical Physics from the University of Valencia (Sebastián Nicolás Vera Rodríguez).
• Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the International Valencian University (Víctor Iván Zúñiga Bustos).
• PhD in Educational Sciences (cum laude distinction) from the University of Granada (Silvia García Leiva).

Procedure and resources

The resolution was issued by order of the Minister of Education, Fernanda Valdés Raczynski, in her capacity as Undersecretary of Higher Education, in exercise of the delegation conferred by exempt resolution No. 4,134 of 2019. A motion for reconsideration may be filed against the act before the Undersecretariat itself within five days of its notification, and subsidiarily a hierarchical appeal, in accordance with Article 59 of Law No. 19,880.

The recognition consolidates academic and professional mobility between both countries, allowing those who pursued higher education in Spain to practice their professions in Chile with full official validity.
